HotWax previously shared the album’s opener, “She’s Got A Problem” – a motoring barrage of grunge rock that has become a mainstay of the band’s live set over a packed summer of touring and festivals, as well as a live version of the song recorded at London’s iconic RAK Studios (watch here). They played both singles and other fan-favorites on a recent run in the UK supporting The Libertines and Warmduscher on various dates. In March 2025 the band will head out on a run of in-store shows in the U.K. to celebrate the Hot Shock release. See all live dates below.

Hailing from Hastings, UK, HotWax’s debut album is the follow up to two critically acclaimed EPs released in 2023. In support of those the band has played over 150 blistering live shows in the past 18 months alone including packed headline shows in both New York City and Los Angeles, a North American tour supporting Royal Blood, and showcases during SXSW 2023. Across the pond they have appeared at numerous festivals including Reading and Leeds Festival, and Mad Cool, cementing their reputation as one of the most thrilling live acts on the rise.
Hot Shock was made to be played to a crowd, loudly and with abandon, Described by Sam as “an explosion of color,” it’s a body of work that immediately gets under the skin. Drawing inspiration from the lyrical intensity of Fontaines D.C., as well as seminal US guitar bands like Autolux and Sonic Youth, the LP maintains rich arrangements to create a deep odyssey into a bold and groove-based sound. In a “complete experiment”, as Sayers puts it, the band recorded songs live in front of a crowd at London’s RAK Studios – perfectly capturing the distinct, dizzying energy of a HotWax show.
Across the album HotWax tackles a broad range of challenging topics – selfhood, anxiety, intrusive thoughts – while also allowing for each band member’s personality to thrive. And while Hot Shock may traverse the unsettling terrain that comes with entering young adulthood, there’s also a sense of playful abandon that is never far behind. Childhood friends Sim-Savage and Sam have been writing together since they were 12, before the latter met Sayers at music college five years later. Listening to the record, it’s easy to sense the dedication the group feels towards nurturing and sustaining their creative partnership.
Sim-Savage says. “We know how each other's brains work so well. We couldn’t do any of this without each other.” It’s an honest, moving sentiment sure to propel HotWax towards becoming the UK’s next big crossover rock act – and beyond.
