Today, three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter, producer and engineer Victoria Monét releases her new JAGUAR II : Deluxe project out now on Lovett Music/RCA Records. The expanded collection of songs adds to the GRAMMY® Award winning album JAGUAR II with 10 new tracks including the Michael Jackson and Anita Baker-sampled new single “1900s” as well as her highly praised R&B single “SOS” featuring global icon USHER, further showcasing Victoria's versatility and range across genres from R&B/soul to pop and dance. JAGUAR II : Deluxe showcases Victoria’s affinity for live instrumentation, witty double entendres, and her influences. She reunites here with longtime collaborator and Grammy-winning executive producer D’Mile, along with xSDTRK, Camper and Tim Suby. Monét kicks off the deluxe with the jazzy “DickAtNight” - a youthful and unapologetic juxtaposition of lyrical content against a perhaps usually-serious and musically-savvy sonic bed. She pays homage to her favorite legendary icons on “1900s” (sampling Michael Jackson’s “Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin” and interpolating Anita Baker’s “Caught Up In The Rapture”) and “Love Is Stronger Than Pride” (reimagining the Sade classic). She shares a witty yet relatable story of chasing your dreams on “Don’t Sleep” featuring Thundercat. Troubled by the state of the world, “Everybody Needs Someone” is Monét’s musical plea for change. Reminiscent of Motown singles by the Jacksons and Smokey Robinson, it’s a beautiful reminder to get back to leading with the basics: human connection and love. The deluxe also houses the gold single “We Might Even Be Falling in Love (Duet)” featuring Bryson Tiller, which is now finally available on all platforms for the first time, and closes with heartfelt messages on “The Greatest” (Lovenotes Outro).
The lead track from the deluxe, “SOS (Sex On Sight),” featuring R&B legend USHER, was the #1 Most Added at R&B Radio upon release, marking Monét's second big hit of 2024. The Grammy winning pair debuted the song following multiple public wins this year and USHER passing the torch to Monét, a new leading R&B act in her own right. From the residency and Super Bowl, to both tied leading NAACP Image Awards nominations, to Victoria and Teyana Taylor’s viral “Bad Girl” performance paying homage to Beyonce and USHER’S iconic 2005 performance during his Lifetime Achievement Tribute at the BET Awards in June.
2024 has been a well-deserved and rewarding year for Monét. She started the year as second-most nominated at the GRAMMYs with an impressive 7 nominations - collecting wins across the categories of ‘Best New Artist,’ ‘Best R&B Album’, and ‘Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical’, where she made history as the first Black woman ever to receive this award. She went viral in April for her Coachella debut performances. In June, she released her Dave Meyers-directed, Sean Bankhead-choreographed music video for the Kaytranada viral fan favorite, “Alright” - which received widespread praise. A week later, she made headlines again with two standout performances plus award wins at the 2024 BET Awards for both Video Of The Year and BET Her. In addition to a standing ovation and Beyoncé herself posting her “Bad Girl” USHER tribute with Teyana Taylor, Victoria also delivered a jaw dropping medley performance of “On My Mama” and “Alright”. She then continued her debuts at a series of music festivals including Lollapalooza, Essence Fest, Outside Lands, Broccoli City Fest, and All Points East UK - where she can be seen performing to a 30,000+ crowd singing “On My Mama” word for word. Most recently, Beyoncé applauded Victoria publicly in her global cover story for GQ.
The JAGUAR era as a whole represents a well-deserved chapter in Monét’s distinguished career, reaffirming her evolution from a sought-after songwriter to a prominent, groundbreaking artist. Formerly in the shadows, she’s fully stepped into the light. Like its predecessors, JAGUAR II : Deluxe is executive produced by Victoria Monét, Grammy-winning producer D’Mile and Billboard Executive of the Year Rachelle Jean-Louis. JAGUAR II featured standout tracks such as “Smoke,” Grammy-nominated “How Does It Make You Feel”, Kaytranada-produced “Alright” and platinum breakout hit “On My Mama”. “Hollywood” featuring Earth, Wind & Fire and Monét’s daughter Hazel garnered a GRAMMY nomination, making Hazel the youngest Grammy nominee in history.
