She describes it as the “heart of the album,” reflecting on the complexity of love, fear, and attachment that motherhood brings. “Honeydew explores the sweetness and stickiness of mothering, and learning to let go,” she says.  anaiis & Grupo Cosmo is a seven-track project that seamlessly blends diverse cultural and musical influences, exploring profound themes of Black identity, motherhood, birth, and the natural world. Describing the mini-album as “a sonic emergence of the person I was becoming,” anaiis reflects on her personal growth throughout its creation. anaiis & Grupo Cosmo will include previously released single “Toda Cor” featuring Grammy-nominated Brazilian singer-songwriter Luedji Luna. The pair wrote the song in a studio after bonding over shared cultural experiences as Black women, despite their geographical differences. Grupo Cosmo, the Brazilian trio accompanying anaiis, brings together drums and percussion, bass, and Sessa on acoustic guitar. Their sound combines the raw energy of a power trio with the lush, layered traditions of Brazilian music, including rock, pop, and psychedelia influences from the ’70s. This blend of electric and acoustic elements produces a sound both full and intimate, resonating with the warmth of folk and bossa nova. Though Grupo Cosmo has yet to perform live together, their intense studio sessions sparked a creative synergy that is reflected in the album’s organic flow. Their music connects deeply with nature, balancing environmental themes with moments of beauty and contemplation, celebrating simplicity and sensitivity amidst global complexities.
