(June 25, 2024) - London-based singer-songwriter-producer Natanya shares her new single “boombox.” Her first offering of the year, the musician flexes her exceptional self-taught production abilities while leaning into a new and heavy ambiance that sees her building on the sounds she first introduced on her debut EP and coming-of-age project Sorrow at Sunrise.
Currently supporting Destin Conrad on his European tour this summer, “boombox” sees Natanya building on Sorrow at Sunrise’s plot diagram of love, conflict, and pivotal turning points. As she tells the story of waiting on her romantic interest to finally acknowledge her after what feels like a lifetime of silence, she dexterously extends the parameters of her musical tapestry with flowery instrumentation, synth-heavy tonics, and dark hyper-rap, further solidifying her promise as one of alt-pop’s most exciting and versatile future contributors.
Born in North West London, Natanya has always considered music her second language. She began classical piano lessons at the age of four and quickly discovered her perfect pitch. As a teenager, she attended the Julian Joseph Jazz Academy on weekends, where she wrote her first songs and started producing beats with friends. This pursuit culminated in her debut tape, Sorrow At Sunrise, featuring confessional writing set against a rich sonic tapestry. Written as six diary entries, the tape details the first tastes of independence during her first year studying English Literature at University College London, all while juggling a budding musical career. The singer has garnered applause from fellow artists and music critics alike, resulting in cosigns from outlets like Wonderland, Clash, and GUAP Magazine who awarded her with their GUAP GALA’s “Music Artist to Watch” award in 2023, an honor previously given to the girl group FLO, for whom she opened for on the UK leg of their 2023 tour FLO Live. Her talent has captured the attention and adoration of a growing cult fan base, which is sure to expand as her musical arsenal continues to develop.
