(October 31, 2023) - On the heels of the release of her highly-praised sophomore album Census Designated, Jane Remover announces her co-headline tour with deadAir label-mate quannnic. Beginning on February 8th, 2024, the Designated Dreams tour will see the two artists perform 13 shows across the country, kicking off in Santa Ana and wrapping up in Boston. Tickets go on sale this Friday, November 3rd.
20-year-old songwriter and genre pioneer Jane Remover recently released her sophomore full-length album Census Designated, which has been celebrated by Billboard, Pitchfork, Stereogum, CONSEQUENCE, UPROXX, them., and more upon its release. Jane was recently profiled by Paste Magazine, who stated, "'Census Designated' is an album of destruction. It exists only in the wake of who Jane Remover used to be." Across the dynamically produced tracks of Census Designated, Jane sheds linear songwriting and leans into the conceptual, taking the listener on a journey through the darkest night up until the following morning's earliest break of dawn. Census Designated is the follow up to Jane's lauded debut album Fraility released in 2021.
As long as she can remember, Jane Remover has strived for autonomy as much as possible. The twenty-year-old songwriter is an omnivorous listener that produces everything herself. Her debut album Frailty was written amidst the purgatorial summer after graduating high school. The lyrics on Frailty are a wayward coming-of-age diary of a queer teenager stuck in the suburbs of a confusing, socio-politically turbulent America. Her words sting, but are shrouded in meticulous production; a sui generis vein of DIY rock. Simultaneously, it’s steeped in the lo-bit, nostalgic synths that soundtrack a final glimpse of younger memories. The LP was warmly received not only by widespread young audience but also with Album of the Year list placements from Pitchfork and TheNeedleDrop, as well as a glowing reception from The FADER, who called the album “elegant and panoramic."
