Leading independent publishing company PRESCRIPTION SONGS is excited to announce the recent signing of GRAMMY-winning songwriting and production team Play-N-Skillz. The Miami-based, Dallas-raised Latin American duo consisting of brothers Juan “Play” Salinas and Oscar “Skillz” Salinas were brought into the talented roster by Prescription Songs Senior Director of A&R Siara Behar. This news comes weeks after the exclusive announcement that Play-N-Skillz have agreed to a record deal with Pitbull’s Mr. 305 Records and are planning to release new music very soon (article on Billboard here).

“Today marks an exciting chapter in our musical journey as we proudly announce our new partnership with Dr. Luke’s esteemed music publishing company Prescription Songs,” the two shared in a statement. “Together, we will create a symphony of creativity, pushing boundaries and inspiring audiences worldwide. Driven by a shared vision and a passion for innovation, this collaboration promises to amplify our artistic voice and bring forth powerful melodies that resonate deeply. With the support of this remarkable team, we are ready to break barriers, explore new horizons, and add to our legacy in the music industry.”

Prescription Songs team is equally as excited about this new partnership with Play-N-Skillz. “We are thrilled to welcome Play-N-Skillz to our Prescription Songs family,” Behar shares. “They are true musical visionaries that continue to pave their own path with chart-topping hits across multiple genres. Their talent, work ethic and unique ability to create music that connects with audiences on a global scale is incredibly special and we are proud to partner with them during this exciting new chapter of their career!”

Brothers Juan “Play” Salinas and Oscar “Skillz” Salinas shared a passion for music from very early on, starting with DJing in Dallas while still in high school. In 2003, they got started on a professional level after working with Houston hip-hop artist Lil’ Flip, which then led to them meeting and working with rapper Chamillionaire. The duo produced and co-wrote his hit single “Ridin” marking the first of two Grammy award-winning productions for the Salinas Brothers; it won “Best Rap Collaboration by a Group or Duo.” Their production and co-writing on “Got Money” featuring T-Pain, the third single off Lil Wayne’s 2008 album Tha Carter III, helped garner a Grammy win for “Best Rap Album” and would go on to be covered by Korn’s Jonathan Davis and remixed by Travis Barker.

By 2011, the duo brought their music to the dance music scene and began working with David Guetta. Together, they co-wrote and arranged his music, leading to the hit “Where Them Girls At” featuring Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida. In 2014, Play-N-Skillz connected with Redfoo of the group LMFAO and went on tour with him in Mexico, Australia, Dubai and South America while working on Redfoo’s solo album where they wrote and produced the multi-platinum global hit “New Thang.” 2019 brought the #1 worldwide diamond single “Con Calma” for Daddy Yankee and subsequent remix version featuring Katy Perry. They collaborated again with Daddy Yankee on his most recent and final album release LEGENDADDY, producing and writing on six tracks from the collection. They have recorded in studio with Pitbull, Steve Aoki, Akon, Nicky Jam, among others.

While grateful and inspired to continue working collaborative projects with other artists, Play-N-Skillz is looking forward to releasing new original music in the near future. The two recently built a top-of-the-line studio in Miami where they are currently based. The new signing with Prescription Songs and Pitbull’s Mr. 305 Records beckons a new chapter for the team already credited with worldwide hits across pop, hip-hop, Latin, dance and more.
