PRESS ON CAROLINE POLACHEK “Caroline Polachek’s best album of her career is a transformative pop experience, a passionate, richly melodic odyssey into the darkest corners of love” - PITCHFORK, BEST NEW MUSIC “A masterful follow up to 2019’s Pang, the album carries over the alt-pop singer-songwriter’s trademark vocal style, but pushes her work to even further embrace the playful lust that first established her solo stardom.” - BILLBOARD “Desire is so much more than a diaristic declaration of love and lust: it’s a patchwork of ideas large and small, nostalgic and current, that serve her avant pop impulses and her shimmering, endlessly flexible voice. It’s the best album of her career, and an enchanting exploration of love as a spiritual, transformative act.” - CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND “Just as the title suggests, Polachek reaches a new peak by being able to play with the concept of transformation and versatility on this album.” - UPROXX “It’s a vibrant, otherworldly journey into the ethereal world of an electrifying, innovative artist. Featuring hit singles, “Bunny Is a Rider” (irrefutably one of the best tracks of 2021), “Billions”, “Sunset”, and “Welcome to My Island”, Desire is sparkling, exciting, and quintessentially Polachek.” - GQ “On the Danny L Harle-produced Desire, her star goes supernova via experimental dips into R&B, new age, whimsical pop, and even flamenco.” - STEREOGUM “As the title suggests, the record is all about human desire and connection. It's a synthesized love fest from start to finish.” - ESQUIRE “Caroline is getting mentioned in the same breath as those and other boundary-pushing artists because of the way she makes pop music entirely on her own terms.” - BROOKLYN VEGAN “The album is a masterpiece, every synth flourish, and hair-raising falsetto. Four months after my first listen, I still get shivers when I hear its songs.” - NYLON |
On the two year anniversary of her much-celebrated single, Caroline Polachek revitalizes her track “Bunny Is A Rider” with the release of three new remixes, each accentuating the unique nature of the original song. In working with effervescent dance producer and master of the remix form Doss, Polachek’s celestial presence reaches new heights on the collaboration. Accompanying versions are presented by futurist producer Sega Bodega and techno-hybrid Nikki Nair, both of whom expand “Bunny Is A Rider” beyond its previously-held limits. At the center of each song remains the charm of the original, bending to the will of innovation but not compromising. For what has always been a summer record, the three new remixes are suitable for all temperatures. “Bunny Is A Rider” served as the lead single to Desire, I Want To Turn Into You, Polachek’s avant-pop opus released to widespread acclaim. The song’s 2021 release established the momentum for the album as it landed on several end of year lists, including the title of Pitchfork’s #1 Best Track of 2021. Described as “built for dancing” by The New York Times, the original track has collected over 27 million worldwide streams, along with 2.6 million views of the labyrinth-style music video. The track will also be featured in an upcoming Amazon Music global commercial - airing in the fall. Praise for Desire, I Want To Turn Into You remarkably stands up to that of “Bunny Is A Rider”: the album held the position as the number one rated album on Metacritic for nearly five months and remains one of the highest rated albums of the year thus far. Desire became a fixture for Best Albums of 2023 lists, with features in Pitchfork, Billboard, Esquire, UPROXX, The Guardian, Consequence of Sound, and more. The eclectic record inspired The Spiraling Tour, a tour that saw Polachek bring her spell-binding power across 22 shows in North America, including a sold-out show at the iconic Radio City Music Hall in New York City and a stand-out set at Glastonbury Festival, noted by Euronews as “exactly the kind of artist Glastonbury needs more of.” |
