SAN FRANCISCO, CA (June 15, 2023) — Stern Grove Festival, the oldest outdoor music festival on the West Coast, is excited to announce a new partnership with San Francisco’s CBS television stations: KPIX and KBCW to livestream and broadcast nearly every concert as the admission-free weekend concert series makes its triumphant return to Sigmund Stern Grove for its 86th season beginning this Sunday, June 18.
After having worked together the past several seasons on the season-recapping television specials, Best of the Fest - Stern Grove Festival in 2021 and again in 2022, these two local powerhouses have joined forces to bring this SF music institution directly to the homes of millions of viewers across the greater Bay Area. By offering these memorable performances to the public free-of-charge via livestream and broadcast, Stern Grove Festival continues to fulfill its mission to make high-quality, musical performances accessible for all.
This summer’s livestream schedule includes the following shows listed below, in addition to non-live streamed concert performances from Santigold (July 2), the SF Symphony with special guest Lettuce (July 23), as well as Patti Smith and Bob Mould (August 13):
June 18 Snarky Puppy, Isaiah Sharkey
June 25 Indigo Girls (with Full Band), Neko Case
July 9 Lyle Lovett and His Large Band, Andrew St. James
July 16 Angelique Kidjo, Jupiter & Okwess
July 30 Bob Moses, Neil Frances
August 6 Buddy Guy Damn Right Farewell Tour, Eric Gales
August 20 The Big Picnic Featuring The Flaming Lips, Alan Palomo (Neon Indian DJ Set)
For those unable to attend in-person, concerts will be aired each Sunday beginning at 2:00 p.m. PST via CBS San Francisco's CW affiliate, KBCW, 44 cable12, and KPIX.com while hosted by beloved local media personality and returning season emcee Liam Mayclem, who celebrates his tenth season as the festival’s host.
Each weekend, viewers from across the Bay Area can tune in to KBCW, 44 cable12, or visit KPIX.com. to watch headlining performances set to the backdrop of one of the most beautiful music venues destinations in the country, which is often mentioned alongside the likes of Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, and The Gorge Amphitheatre in Washington, offering an unparalleled outdoor setting for music lovers of all ages both for attendees in-person and for those that are tuning-in at home.
The ten-part concert season begins with a special festival performance from Snarky Puppy, a Jazz collective consisting of nearly two dozen talented musicians who continuously collaborate on stage to create a live performance like no other, marking a welcomed revival of the Festival’s home at Sigmund Stern Grove following back to back years of major flooding in the park.
Stay tuned as free reservations to 2023 concerts at the Grove will be released in the coming weeks, exactly one month prior to each concert date. Learn more at www.sterngrove.org, while following along on social media including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
