Originating in Los Angeles, queer Boston-based rock duo Mediocre will release their Dangerbird Records debut EP To Know You're Screwed this Friday, April 7. Early EP cuts “To Know You’re Screwed is to Know a Lot” and “Pop Song Baby” have earned acclaim spanning Stereogum, THEM, PunkNews.org, BrooklynVegan, Ones To Watch, GLAAD, WBUR and more. Today, they reveal the final album single “Together Together”, self-described as “a swan song for the end of the world”. Playful, spunky, and emotional, the new song’s simplistic thrown-together feel is reminiscent of the White Stripes’ raw Elephant-era ditties infused with The Moldy Peaches-esque quirky lyricism and the funky drum beats of Luscious Jackson.

But the duo of Martin and Torrison take their huge talents in stride, using self-deprecation to deflect from the anxiety of the spotlight. With Piper on guitar and Keely on bass with Jake Pavlica of the band Street Play on drums, Joe Reinhart of Hop Along and Algernon Cadwallader, produced, engineered, and mixed at the LA Dangerbird Studio in May 2022. The result is a punchy, catchy, pure record that seamlessly blends elements of 90s garage rock, angular post punk and brooding indie pop.
