Today, Grammy award-winning global superstar and cultural curator Dua Lipa invites the former Executive Editor of The New York Times and Pulitzer Prize recipient, Dean Baquet on the season two finale of Dua Lipa: At Your Service. You can listen to the episode here, or wherever you listen to podcasts.

In this week’s episode, Dean shares some of his most memorable experiences working in The New York Times newsroom, including culture-shifting reporting on US drone strikes on civilians, the 1619 Project, and spearheading the #MeToo movement. He explains that through the publication of a powerful tell-all, The New York Times was one of the first to provide a platform for women to share their stories about Harvey Weinstein, formerly regarded as one of most powerful men in Hollywood. These events were depicted in the recently released film She Said.

Dua and Dean also discuss the importance of telling powerful stories in a way that resonates with readers, like sharing news of the impacts of climate change through both words and visuals, and how to navigate the challenges facing journalism today. The season finale closes out with Dean’s advice to Dua for the sustainability and success of Service95, and his recommendations for news sources other than the New York Times and the best restaurants in New Orleans.

Dean's appearance on this week's episode adds to the stellar roster of best-selling authors, critically-acclaimed musicians, award-winning directors, advocates, and thought leaders from Dua Lipa: At Your Service Season Two. With the help of her guests, Dua has explored themes of taking back your narrative, the immigrant experience, authenticity in art, today’s epidemic of racial injustice, and pushing for gun control.

The At Your Service podcast is the sweeping companion piece to the Service95 newsletter, a global style, culture, and society editorial platform created to help the reader make sense of the world. The podcast has been lauded in publications including Vogue and The Guardian and was named one of the Best Podcasts of 2022 by Spotify who said “Dua is an incredibly thoughtful interviewer with a genuine interest in people, social movements, and the arts.” Season Two of At Your Service follows the Summer (Mini)Series, a 3-episode offering of Dua’s go-to activities that keep her grounded, and the highly compelling first season, which featured high-profile guests like Elton John, T Magazine Editor in Chief and author Hanya Yanagihara, Megan Thee Stallion, and activist Nadia Murad with Amal Clooney.

The Service95 website is now live here, where you can check out all previous issues of the Service95 newsletter and episodes from the podcast.

About Dua Lipa

Global pop superstar Dua Lipa firmly solidified her position as both a critical success and top radio performer when she released her Grammy award-winning #1 UK sophomore album Future Nostalgia in 2020 to worldwide acclaim. Future Nostalgia landed on the year-end “Best Of” lists of everyone from Rolling Stone and Billboard to Pitchfork and was the longest running top 10 album by a female artist on the Billboard 200 in 2021. Certified platinum in the US & UK, the album spawned multiple worldwide hit singles including the #1 tracks “Levitating,” which was Billboard’s Top Hot 100 Song of 2021 and is the longest running song ever on Spotify’s Today’s Top Hits playlist, and US 4x platinum lead single “Don’t Start Now,” which broke her personal best record of weeks at #1 at US Top 40 radio. Future Nostalgia was the follow up to her eponymous 2017 debut, which is certified platinum, spawned 6 platinum tracks, and made Dua the first female artist in Brit Awards history to pick up five nominations, with two wins for British Breakthrough Act and British Female Solo Artist. In addition to breaking radio records, Dua is also a dominant force on streaming platforms, topping Spotify’s artist chart as the most streamed female artist on the platform and is currently the fourth biggest artist overall with over 67 million monthly listeners. Future Nostalgia was the #1 most streamed album of 2020 on the platform, and now has over 16 billion streams across platforms worldwide. Dua received 6 nominations at the 2021 Grammys, including Record, Song and Album of the Year. She is now a three-time Grammy winner, having received awards for Best Pop Vocal Album last year and for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording in 2019. 2022 saw Dua embark on her critically acclaimed "Future Nostalgia World Tour" and launch Service95, a global style, culture, and society editorial platform inspired by her lifelong habit of curating extensive recommendations lists. The accompanying podcast, Dua Lipa: At Your Service, features thoughtful conversations with a group of high-profile guests from fellow performers and artists to authors and activists.
