V**GRA BOYS ANNOUNCE US TOUR + WELFARE JAZZ DIGITAL DELUXE

Photo Credit: Fredrik Bengtsson Stockholm post-punk band V**gra Boys (**= "ia" because spam FILTERS) have announced a US tour, their first in support of their latest album Welfare Jazz. Kicking off April 1st in Boston and wrapping up their debut Coachella performance on April 24th the 15 date tour will make stops in Philadelphia, DC, Brooklyn, Chicago, San Francisco and more (full dates below). The tour will see support from fellow YEAR0001 artists Provoker on leg one and from ​​Kill Birds on leg two. Tickets will go on sale on January 28th at 10:00 am local time. That same day the band will release the deluxe edition of their critically-acclaimed sophomore album Welfare Jazz. The album which saw coverage from Pitchfork, NPR, a four-page GQ Magazine spread, Fader, and more will see the addition of four new tracks and three remixes on the digital-only deluxe version. The original album released January 8th of 2021 was produced by Matt Sweeney (Bonnie "Prince" Billy, Run the Jewels), Justin and Jeremiah Raisen (Yves Tumor, Kim Gordon, Sky Ferreira) as well as past collaborators Pelle Gunnerfeldt and Daniel Fagerström (The Hives, The Knife).   Since their founding in 2015, Swedish post-punk band V**gra Boys have made a name for themselves burning up stages around the world. There’s a little Iggy Pop spit and seethe, a David Yow drunken stumble, and a bite of Nick Cave’s haunted bark. Add a dash of motorik groove, a pinch of post-punk grime, and a dose of no-wave howl. For every gruff and gritty croak in the outfit’s catalog, they come back with a pair of bongos, squared-off synths, and a squonky saxophone. Throughout Welfare Jazz, Murphy digs into the absurdity of the mundane and the mundanity of the absurd--like a kid sitting too close to the TV, taking the Saturday morning cartoons deadly serious and laughing at cable news, all while gobs of mashed frosted cereal threaten to spill out of his manically chewing maw.
