January 25, 2021—Amanda Shires and Jason Isbell performed “The Problem” on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon this past Friday; Watch HERE.
“The Problem” featuring Isbell was released last year to critical praise on International Safe Abortion Day, with proceeds benefitting The Yellowhammer Fund in Alabama. Watch the official music video HERE.
The Tonight Show performance coincided with two important events: The release of a new version, “Our Problem,” featuring a variety of world-renowned female artists including Cyndi Lauper, Angie Stone, K.Flay, Lilly Hiatt, Linda Perry, Morgane Stapleton, Nona Hendryx, Peaches and Valerie June, with Sheryl Crow on bass, Isbell on guitar, Peter Levin on keys and Chris Powell on drums, as well as the anniversary of Roe vs. Wade; listen/share HERE.
To help mark this special collaboration, Shires has created an “I’m On Your Side” filter accessible on her Instagram page. She is inviting fans to send in videos of themselves singing or lip syncing “Our Problem,” which she will cut together into a full video. Deadline for submissions is February 1st and can be sent HERE.
Critical acclaim for “The Problem” and “Our Problem”:
Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and violinist Amanda Shires began her career as a teenager playing fiddle with the Texas Playboys. Through the years, she has toured and recorded with notable artists including John Prine, Billy Joe Shaver, Todd Snider, Shovels and Rope, Gregg Allman, Justin Townes Earle and more, as well as her husband Jason Isbell. She has released five albums, the most recent being 2018’s To The Sunset, which was produced by Grammy-award winning producer Dave Cobb. In 2017 Shires was named the Americana Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year and supported John Prine on tour. As a member of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, Shires won a Grammy Award for Best Americana Album for the band’s The Nashville Sound in 2018. In 2019, Shires formed country supergroup The Highwomen alongside Brandi Carlile, Maren Morris and Natalie Hemby. The group’s critically acclaimed self-titled LP debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, and was praised by the likes of NPR Music, Rolling Stone, Variety, Entertainment Weekly, Vulture, Pitchfork, Esquire and many others.
