Eons, eras, periods, epochs, millennia, centuries, decades, years, months, weeks, single days. "All things must end," notes Devo's Gerald Casale. On Saturday eve at Desert Daze, we will see The Beginning of the End for Devo. "Devo enters the Anthropocene Era. There's no place like home to return to. We are all Devo." The cosmic ballet pirouettes always forward, unfurling untold secrets. According to the ancient blessing and curse "may you get what you want"--we give you Friday with The Flaming Lips, Stereolab and Animal Collective; Saturday with Ween, Devo, Flying Lotus 3D and The Locust; and Sunday with Wu-Tang Clan, Khruangbin, The Claypool Lennon Delirium and The Black Angels. All days with much more. Single Day Passes are available now.
This year, Desert Daze's trial time release formula delivered a metered dose of artists between the initial announcement and the first full transmission. Side effects included: giddiness, shortness of breath, euphoria, excitability and reduced impulse control. Rarer side effects included mild irritability and impatience. Having thoroughly tested our formula, we're excited to announce new artist additions: Dead Meadow and Richard Rose, a Q&A panel with Les Claypool and Sean Lennon, and screening of the new documentary We Intend to Cause Havoc (2019) with follow up Q&A to answer any of your burning questions about enigmatic Zamrock legends W.I.T.C.H..
We've also lifted the inter-dimensional veil to The Mystic Bazaar--tucked away in the Desert Daze campgrounds and only accessible to those with a camping pass. The assembled mystics, musicians, shamans, healers, teachers and wanderers from all over the world will lead the workshops, ceremonies, yoga, meditations and soundbaths. The Mystic Bazaar will also feature Late Night Experimentations from Jacco Gardner, Klaus Johann Grobe, Sessa, Beef (Stella Mozgawa of Warpaint + Boom Bip), closing ceremonies with JJUUJJUU & Friends, plus much more.
For our second year in the location cited by Rolling Stone as "America's most aesthetically pleasing...," we've taken measures to improve entry traffic and all other avenues of your experience. The "oasis among American festivals (Stereogum)" features well-maintained state park camping facilities including brick and mortar bathrooms with running water, real showers, flushing toilets and RV hookups. Watch your favorite performers from the back of an inflatable pegasus afloat Lake Perris. Swim or lounge on the beach among a forest of surreal sculptures and installation structures. Spin in place and count the mountains. The mountains are counting on you.
