THE CURE’S ROBERT SMITH DONATES SIGNED GUITAR  FROM PASADENA DAYDREAM TO LOCAL CHARITIES THE ‘SCHECTER ROBERT SMITH SIGNATURE ULTRACURE’ GUITAR TO BE PLAYED BY SMITH DURING THE SHOW ADDITIONALLY, PASADENA DAYDREAM SHARES  FOOD & DRINK LINEUP

Pasadena, CA – August 26, 2019 - Pasadena Daydream Festival is excited to announce that The Cure’s Robert Smith will be donating his guitar played during the show to benefit Free Arts, Inner-City Arts, Little Kids Rock, Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation and The Painted Turtle. This contribution is made in addition to a $1 per every ticket sold donation to these music and arts education organizations and local charities (for more about each of these organizations, please see the full, alphabetical list below). Redesigned for 2019, the new Schecter Robert Smith Signature UltraCure has a sleeker offset chambered mahogany body. Armed with dual Seymour Duncan ’59 humbuckers and a Bigsby vibrato, the new UltraCure has a set-in neck design with a 25.5” scale neck, ebony fingerboard, Mother-of-Pearl vintage block inlays and side glow-dots for dark stages. The donated guitar will be one of three UltraCures played onstage by Robert Smith at the Pasadena Daydream Festival on Saturday, August 31st, and it will be signed by him immediately after the show. The Cure headlines and curates Pasadena Daydream Festival to take place at the Brookside at the Rose Bowl on Saturday, August 31, featuring performances by Pixies, Deftones, Mogwai, Throwing Muses, The Joy Formidable, Chelsea Wolfe, The Twilight Sad, Emma Ruth Rundle and Kælan Mikla. Following their 40th anniversary appearance at BST Hyde Park, London in 2018, The Cure have invited a selection of their favorite artists for another summer headline event, this time set against the West Coast backdrop of Pasadena’s Rose Bowl. In Robert Smith’s own words, “Hyde Park was a fabulous experience, the whole day was really magical, and we wanted to create something with a similar celebratory vibe for this summer.” Recently inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame, The Cure has been instrumental in shaping the global, post-punk musical landscape. Earning a reputation for melancholy with albums such as Pornography , Disintegration and Bloodflowers , the band has also produced an astonishing succession of pop hits, including, among many others, ‘Boys Don’t Cry’, ‘The Lovecats’, ‘In Between Days’ ‘Close To Me’, ‘Just Like Heaven’, ‘Lullaby’, ‘Lovesong’ and ‘Friday I’m In Love’. Free Arts creates a safe environment where children can feel, understand and express their emotions and begin to recover and gain a sense of mastery and empowerment. Inner-City Arts - Children who attend Inner-City Arts develop skills that are highly valued in the 21st-century workforce such as collaboration, creativity and critical thinking. Inner-City Arts’ services include classes during the instructional day for elementary students, after-school, weekend and summer workshops for teens, and creativity-based professional development for educators. Little Kids Rock - Little Kids Rock transforms lives by restoring, expanding, and innovating music education in our schools. Our network of thousands of K-12 teachers across 45 states leads a national movement that brings innovative and inclusive music education to students. Using genres including rock, pop, latin, and rap, our program empowers teachers to build music programs as diverse as the kids they serve.  Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation - The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation keeps music alive in our schools by donating musical instruments to under-funded music programs, and providing vital services to school districts nationwide, giving economically-disadvantaged youth access to the many benefits of music education, leading them to success in school, and inspiring creativity and expression through playing music.
