ELLIS Shares New Video via i-D, Announces Shows with Alvvays and American Football

ELLIS
SHARES “SOMETHING BLUE” MUSIC VIDEO
& ANNOUNCES NYC SHOW W/ ALVVAYS

The Fuzz out now on Fat Possum

Early praise for Ellis:

“Under the name Ellis, Ontario-based songwriter Linnea Siggelkow records warm and brooding bedroom pop. The new single, "Something Blue" is an atmospheric and wandering slow-core ballad you can get lost in.” - NPR Music’s All Songs Considered

“‘The Drain’ is the sort of song you could imagine being just as captivating when blown up with an orchestra or stripped down to acoustic guitar—the rare track that manages to feel both triumphant and achingly intimate.” - Pitchfork

“Mazzy Star and Slowdive are part of [Frostbite's] constellation, two points of light in a deep personal pain as clear and as desolate as rarefied winter air.” - The FADER

“The effectiveness of Ellis’ sad, dreamy indie rock is that every feeling, every motive behind the feeling, is one you’ve inevitably dealt with at some point. It’s presented not cleanly or neat but rather simple and pointed; a matter-of-fact phrase wrapped around a beating, aching heart.” - Noisey

“[One of] a new generation of guitar-centric bands who quickly proved themselves to be exciting songwriters...a swooning, hazy piece of music, capturing the lure of those early relationship stages.”
 - Stereogum

“It’s a restrained, hazy listen, an ideal soundtrack for winter’s last, blistery gasp...The Fuzz is blue music, but it’s not necessarily sad—Siggelkow has a way with moody melodies that seem to lift the listener up rather than drag them down." - Paste

Ellis - the music project of Ontario’s Linnea Siggelkow, or L.S. - released her critically acclaimed debut EP The Fuzz last Fall, and signed to Fat Possum who released it physically for the first time last month. Leading up to the physical release, Ellis shared a breaktaking new single that was not on the EP, entitled “Something Blue.” Today she shares the equally gorgeous music video for the track exclusively via i-D. Read Ellis’ interview and watch the music video now HERE.

Today Ellis also announces that she will perform at Central Park SummerStage in NYC this Summer with Alvvays and The Courtneys. She will also perform her first-ever UK and EU shows next month - see below to find a show near you, and get your ticketsHERE.

Ellis, the daughter of a traveling book salesman and a piano teacher, crafts music with a faint voice, a fervent guitar, and lyrics that are effortlessly and simultaneously vulnerable and bold. Built from simple instrumentation, the six-track release showcases Siggelkow's full-formed artistic vision and deft songwriting skills, making for a singular statement from a young, up-and-coming artist who is poised for a reception that equals the scope of her remarkable talent.

Having already made her mark as a solo performer in her local DIY scene, Ellis evolved from a solo project into a 4-piece band in 2018, inspiring a grittier take on the same solemn refrain. In November 2018 she released her anticipated debut EP, The Fuzz. The EP arrived following several months of excitement building behind Ellis, who, after generating buzz in her local scene on the back of opening stints with the likes of Soccer Mommy, Gabby's World, Chastity, Palehound, and Free Cake For Every Creature, garnered international acclaim with the release of a series of singles, earning comparisons to Mazzy Star, Alvvays and Slowdive.
