“L.A.'s original punk Alice Bag is back” The Los Angeles Times

"As an author, educator, lifelong badass and the leader of The Bags, among many other bands, she’s been a prolific and guiding light for Chicana punks, and ... she continues that force-of-nature output with fierce songs of protest and massive shredding." Jezebel

“Alice Bag is a Latina punk rock pioneer and a product of the same scene that gave us Black Flag

Based in Los Angeles, Alice Bag is a legendary punk rock singer, musician, author, educator and feminist archivist. She was lead singer and co-founder of The Bags -- who were among the first wave of punk bands to emerge from that city during in the mid-1970's -- and also performed in Castration Squad, Cholita, and Las Tres. Blueprint is her second full-length solo album, featuring an all-star roster of guest vocalists, including Kathleen Hanna (Bikini Kill, The Julie Ruin), Allison Wolfe (Bratmobile, Sex Stains), Francisca Valenzuela, Teri Gender Bender, and Martin Sorrondeguy (Los Crudos, Limp Wrist).Blueprint will be released March 23 on Don Giovanni Records.

Inspired by the pay disparity between genders, Bag recently released the “77” video featuring Kathleen Hanna, Shirley Manson, Allison Wolfe and Seth Bogart. Today she’s thrilled to debut her empowering Spanish language single “Se Cree Joven” -- which translates to “she thinks she’s young” -- with NYLON Español. Alice shares, “This song is based on a personal experience I had while shopping at ‘dollar store’ where a couple of women were talking about me and my appearance behind my back (they assumed I didn't speak Spanish). Instead of giving them a piece of my mind, I walked away and let it fester until it became a song about not giving a s--- what other people think.”

The title "Blueprint" is a nod to the process of construction -- of a home, a life, the world -- and the problems that pop up mid-build. The songs often find their inspiration in real-life moments that caused Bag to take stock and assess her own blueprint-- to take a stand or fix a problem: personal, political, or both. “We're all constantly building structures of many different kinds,” explains Bag. “So, it's up to to us keep things on track and moving in the direction we want to see them go. Otherwise, we end up with an idiot in charge." Revered for her searing lyrics and fiery performance, Alice Bag will make appearances at SXSW, Amoeba Music, Hollywood Palladium, Museum of Latin American Art, Ladyfest and more!
