Mourn, the debut studio album by Minnesota singer, songwriter, artist Corbin (FKA Spooky Black) is officially out today via WEDIDIT / Kobalt Music Recordings. The long-awaited full-length project produced entirely by lauded electronic producer Shlohmo and D33J of WEDIDIT arrives just ahead of Corbin and Shlohmo's co-headlining tour kicking off this week at the Observatory in Santa Ana on September 7th. The raw and emotionally charged album is Corbin's most dynamic songwriting and body of work to date. He paints a sordid picture of the world with glints of humor conceptually drawing inspiration from a story of a recluse hunkered down in the woods with a lover and tragically ending in their demise. Shlohmo and D33J provide the score to the apocalyptic narrative inspired by the industrial genre, Detroit techno, dark electra and the 80's new wave synth-driven sound.
Tracks play out like movie scenes like on "Revenge Song" where Corbin conspires and carry's out revenge for a rape victim with additional production from Blood Orange guitarist Ben Morseberger aka Juice Jackal on this one. Other's like "No Title" are subjective takes and reactionary of the times. Mourn is the distillation of Corbin's world and it's finally here.
