(January 21, 2025) - LA-based singer-songwriter Arima Ederra kicks off her 2026 with the announcement of her sophomore album, A Rush To Nowhere, out March 6th via Arima’s Lab/RCA Records. Arima’s new album marks her first full-length offering since her 2022 debut album An Orange Colored Day, which i-D explained “breathes affirmations of an imaginative utopia to life and begs us to imagine what freedom feels like”. The album includes previously-released singles “Heard What You Said” and “First Time”, both of which arrived with visuals by Jesse Crankson and Jake-Isaac Elwin that establish the visual identity of A Rush To Nowhere. Those visual representations of time come in the form of subdued, shadowy color palettes and shots that vary in movement, or superimposing timelines together like the spontaneity of a bout of deja vu.

Alongside the news of her new album, Arima is also sharing her new single “You’re My”, with an accompanying visualizer directed by Shani Strand. Co-produced by Teo Halm (SZA, Rosalía, Omar Apollo), Caleb Laven (Vince Staples, Childish Gambino) and Solomonphonic (Lola Young, Dominic Fike, Remi Wolf), the new single glimmers with the warmth of love that’s received and reciprocated. Arima’s vocals plunge you into the depths of Halm and Solomon’s fuzzy, distant guitar and drums, as she affirms her dedication to her partner.

Time isn't just what moves us forward, but what allows us to return, to remember, to become

Music has a way of stopping time especially when I need it most

creating sanctuary in a world that never slows

In that suspended moment is where I find myself most clearly

Writing this work revealed the many versions of me across time

The multitudes I hold

- Arima Ederra

A Rush To Nowhere interrogates our complicated relationship to the spiraling nature of time, simultaneously barreling forward while memories remain to be experienced. Arima’s tender writing unfurls in songs of how she processes and experiences time: memories, dreams and reflections on the past, present and future. Written over the course of two years and on trips away from her home in Los Angeles to Lake Arrowhead, Havana, Cuba and Oaxaca, Mexico, the album carries the transmutable quality of shifting over the course of their run time. Her songs permeate R&B, Soul, folk and pop sounds, informed by her admiration for Amel Larrieux, Minnie Ripperton and Joni Mitchell, naturally flowing to the feelings Arima earnestly expresses in her writing. ARTN invites itself to wash over anyone listening, to slow down and experience that time and these songs deeply, acknowledging time as the language of our lives.

Arima’s artistry unsurprisingly began with poetry, finding her voice at open mics at poetry nights in Las Vegas, where she spent her formative years before making her way to LA. Her debut album, An Orange Colored Day, which she also worked on with Teo Halm, was released in 2022 and set the blueprint for her projects as deep meditations on existential questions that she unpacks through her own life experiences. Pitchfork equated the songwriting on An Orange Colored Day to a potter pulling shapes out of clay, reaching “into the haze of grief and unearths new visions of her future that are full of beauty and emotional safety”. Arima approaches her music with a curious wonder, picking loose threads on our relationships to mortality, loss, family, love and time. Throughout 2024 and 2025 she released one-off songs that exercised her own creative catharsis, particularly on “Oh God” featuring Mereba and “Really Tired”, which closed 2024 and her run touring alongside friend and collaborator Ravyn Lenae.
