THE CRANBERRIES release the rare and remastered pre-breakthrough EP "Uncertain" today, Jan. 30th

Announce the Reissue of

The Rare And Newly-Remastered EP
That Foreshadows Their Mainstream Breakthrough
On January 30, 2026

JANUARY 30, 2026 [New York, NY] -- Before “Dreams” signaled the emergence of one of the most arresting and angelic voices enwrapped in a swath of layered dreampop… Before “Linger” entranced audiences even further into their otherworldly and dreamy melodies… Before “Zombie” cemented them as one of the premier alt-rock bands globally… Before their albums were certified multiplatinum and their videos ticking up hundreds of millions of views (“Zombie” has racked up 1.7B alone), Irish alt-rock band THE CRANBERRIES released UNCERTAIN in October 1991.

Today, January 30, 2026, Island / UMe is excited to announce the reissue of this special snapshot of the band on the verge of worldwide breakthrough via this limited edition, numbered and lightly remastered reissue of Uncertain. Pressed on cranberry-colored vinyl, the 45-RPM 12” captures the youthful excitement of that special moment in time immediately before the spotlight on the band got infinitely brighter (their debut album Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? would be released two years later in 1993).

Originally released in very limited quantities (estimates project just 5,000 copies were made), the extremely rare four-song EP is a premonition of sorts, hinting at the hidden powerhouse vocals of the late Dolores O’Riordan that was perfectly complemented by drummer Fergal Lawler, bassist Mike Hogan, and guitarist Noel Hogan.

“Whoa! Listening to these songs is like taking a trip through a Time Machine,” says Fergal. “We were so young when we recorded this EP. You can really hear it in Dolores’s voice. She was just 19 years old then.”

“Listening to Uncertain all these years later, I’m surprised by how well it’s held up,” adds Noel. “You can hear small hints of how the band would eventually sound, but more than anything, it brings back great memories of four young people eager to play music. The EP shows clear signs of strong songwriting, even if it still sounds very much of its time.”

The soaring title track ebbs and flows with Dolores’ ethereal vocals acting as an anchor to keep the musical swells from cresting too soon. “‘Uncertain’ seemed to me at the time to be more of a pop song, but I must say, listening back to it now, it’s got a bit more of an alternative slant to it,” Fergal reminisces.

The melancholic “Nothing Left At All” finds the band in a contemplative mood (“It’s heartbreaking lyrically but has this driving beat behind it giving it hope”), while the propulsive and danceable “Pathetic Senses” foreshadows a post-punk edge that the band would explore with later singles “Zombie” and “Promises.” “Dolores’ high soprano backing vocal is superb,” Fergal says of the song. “Great big guitar power chords and jangly picking parts. It has a bit of an ‘80s feel to it, reminding me a bit of The Cure who we were all big fans of.”

For Fergal, however, it’s the closing track, “Them”, that resonates most. “I personally always loved this song,” he says. “It’s so powerful. It was one of the songs we played live a lot in our early days that really had a mesmerizing effect on the audience.”

UNCERTAIN is released today, January 30, 2026 via Island/UMe. The Cranberries are Fergal Lawler (drums/percussion), Noel Hogan (guitars), Mike Hogan (bass), and Dolores O’Riordan (lead vocals/backing vocals/guitars).

(Jan 30th, 2026) - Experimental pop provocateur Cobrah is back to announce her debut album Torn due March 6th via Atlantic Records. Written and creative directed entirely by Cobrah herself, Torn matches her most vulnerable songwriting yet with cutting vignettes of provocative grandeur and high-impact production. With catwalk-ready basslines, clashing electronics, and hushed vocals, Torn is a multidimensional self-portrait that’s at once raw and theatrical. Cobrah shares, “With Torn, I am way more ‘me’ as a person, the songs pull from my real life. It’s a little bit scary. I love doing characters. I love making things up and being extreme - and I’m still doing that on this album - but I’m also peeling it all off and presenting my real self as a character.”

Alongside the album announcement, Cobrah shares new single “Hush.” The track captures the charged early moments of attraction on the dancefloor, where desire is communicated through glances and proximity rather than words. The single arrives alongside a sultry music video that captures the song’s simmering sexual tension. “It’s about meeting someone in the club — that early phase where you can’t really talk, but everything is suggestive,” Cobrah says. “The song has that energy of holding back, of give-and-take.”

The album release lands ahead of Cobrah’s debut Coachella performance this April, building on the momentum of her Gag Ball Halloween shows last fall and hinting at full North American tour routing to be announced soon.

Torn sees Cobrah stretching herself vocally, an even sultrier evolution from the sexy sing-speak she showcased on earlier bangers that goes hand-in-hand with her newfound emotional vulnerability. “I have a melodic language that I haven’t used before until now,” Cobrah says. “Before it was too personal for me to show it, I didn’t feel strong enough.” With her exacting sense of curation, Cobrah invited back her trusted collaborators Isac Hördegård and Hannes Roovers, whom she’s been working with since her debut 2019 single “IDFKA”- while also branching out by working with the likes of Illangelo (the Canadian producer best known for his work with the Weeknd), Machinedrum (the longtime California experimentalist), and Tove Burman (who co-wrote Rosalía and Lisa’s hit “New Woman”).

A multidisciplinary artist originally from Gothenburg, Sweden, Cobrah emerged from Stockholm’s underground fetish scene, channeling its energy into a bold and boundary-breaking pop vision. Her 2019 debut EP ICON introduced her subversive aesthetic and led to the launch of her label GAGBALL Records, while the breakout hit “IDFKA” earned a Swedish Grammis nomination for Music Video of the Year. 2021’s self-titled COBRAH EP—praised by NME as “a self-assured slab of sexy, celebratory wonky-pop”—and 2023’s SUCCUBUS EP, which won the Swedish Grammis for Electro/Dance of the Year, solidified Cobrah as one of Europe’s most forward-thinking pop artists. Her reimagined SUCCUBUS XXXTENDED featured Amanda Lepore, Ayesha Erotica, and VTSS, and her acclaimed Boiler Room set in London further underscored her reputation for immersive, high-concept performance.

Beyond music, Cobrah’s influence spans fashion and film. She has attended New York and Paris Fashion Weeks for designers including Dilara Fındıkoğlu, Dion Lee, and Matière Fécale, and her music has appeared in campaigns for Jean Paul Gaultier, Mugler, Lancôme, and Viktor & Rolf. Most recently, her single “BRAND NEW BITCH” featured in Yorgos Lanthimos’ 2024 film Kinds of Kindness and its official trailer.

Known for her genre-defying artistry and one-of-a-kind live performances, Cobrah’s forthcoming debut album is sure to cement her reputation as one of pop’s most fearless innovators.

Upcoming Shows:

4/10/26 - 4/19/26 - Indio, CA @ Coachella

At their core, Softcult is a band with something to say—and today, their conviction cements with the release of their bold and long-awaited full-length debut, When A Flower Doesn't Grow. The Ontario-based twins Mercedes (she/her) and Phoenix (they/them) Arn-Horn step fully into their own here, delivering a vulnerable record that feels both deeply personal and unapologetically confrontational.

When A Flower Doesn't Grow is a self-produced, self-recorded, and fiercely independent collection of songs that detail trauma to rebirth and transformation. Its title comes from a quote by Dutch author, Alexander Den Heijer: "when a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment in which it grows, not the flower.”
SOFTCULT - ‘Not Sorry’ (Official Music Video)

To coincide with the album release the band has also shared the official video for their defiant new single"Not Sorry."

Speaking of the new single, vocalist Mercedes Arn-Horn shares:

Not sorry is about not allowing the hateful ignorance of others to affect our self-esteem. Patriarchal society can be extremely cruel to cultural, racial, sexual and gender minorities. Most of this vitriol stems from ignorance and weaponised misinformation. Certain political organizations promote hateful rhetoric when they see minority groups as a threat to their grasp on power. Hate speech is a tactic used to silence the groups that it targets, and it’s important to not only combat it by speaking out with counter-speech so that hate is not the only narrative, but also to protect the mental health of those affected, including ourselves.”

She continues: “This song is about recognizing that while education can solve hateful ignorance, it is not our responsibility to educate every hateful person we encounter. We owe it to ourselves, and to democracy, to protect our peace and well-being. We can’t allow shame, insecurity, fear, or any other psychological effects of hate to silence us. We have nothing to apologize for when our mere existence triggers enraged and ignorant people.”
Photo: Kaylene Widdoes
For Mercedes, those words hit during one of the most pivotal moments of her life: ending a nine-year relationship, coming out as queer, and confronting the cycles of oppression she had been internalizing for years, despite being so outspoken about empowerment. “The person I portrayed myself to be on stage was not the same person making the decisions that governed my life,” she explains. “I was root bound. I was disappearing, shrinking, withering away… and I felt ashamed of it."

As a result, this album is a conceptual work about the various stages of one’s own internal metamorphosis; written from the perspective of someone who has been radicalized by trauma, empowered by their own resilience, and who ultimately healed and blossomed into the person they were always meant to be.
Musically, Softcult continue to expand their rich blend of grunge, shoegaze, and alt-rock textures, weaving fuzz-laden riffs and dreamy soundscapes with raw, confessional lyricism. The result is both intimate and universal: a record for anyone who has ever felt trapped or diminished by their surroundings, and a rallying cry to nurture ourselves and each other in the pursuit of freedom and authenticity.

The album follows last year’s acclaimed Heaven EP, which flipped the concept of an afterlife on its head, critiquing a culture fixated on the future while ignoring the urgent need for change in the present. That release saw the duo land the cover of Spotify’s MARROW playlist (over 4.7 million followers) and embark on tours across North America, the UK, Europe, Australia, and Southeast Asia. Along the way they’ve won fans in artists like Hayley Williams and Bring The Horizon’s Oli Sykes, opened for Incubus and MUSE, and earned praise from outlets including Stereogum, BrooklynVegan, Paste, Consequence, Alternative Press, Kerrang!, CBC, The Gay Times and more.

Born in the studio and committed to carving out their own universe, Softcult embody a fiercely DIY ethos. Phoenix handles production, engineering, and artwork, while Mercedes writes, produces, directs, and edits their deeply personal and impactful videos. Together they create and distribute a monthly zine, SCripture, and remain deeply engaged with their community through the Softcult Discord server. Their music and message are constant reminders that the revolution is very much alive - proof that true liberation begins when we change the environment and allow ourselves, and each other, to grow.

January 30, 2025—Breakout vocalist and songwriter Lauren Spencer Smith will release the deluxe version of her sophomore album, THE ART OF BEING A MESS, on February 13. Pre-save HERE.

In anticipation, she unveils a taste of new music with “Natural Disaster.” Listen/share HERE.

“Natural Disaster is about feeling like everything you touch turns into chaos — and believing you’re a burden to the people who love you, because they can’t see how deep the storm inside you really goes,” says Spencer Smith.

Originally released to widespread critical acclaim, THE ART OF BEING A MESS resonated with fans for its candid, emotionally driven songwriting, including standout singles “Looking Up,” “bridesmaid,” and “IF KARMA DOESN’T GET YOU (I WILL),” the latter of which landed on Spotify’s U.S. Viral Chart.

The deluxe features 6 new songs including previously released single “Thick Skin.”

On February 4, Spencer Smith will kick off a 32-date North American headline tour, with stops in New York CityLos AngelesChicagoNashvilleAtlanta, PhiladelphiaAustin and more. See below for a complete list of dates. Tickets and more information HERE. Spencer Smith recently wrapped up an extensive tour across Europe, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand, which included stops in Liverpool, Glasgow, SydneyMelbourne and more. Additionally, she will be supporting Teddy Swims on his U.K. and Ireland tour this June.

THE ART OF BEING A MESS is out now via Island Records/Republic Records. Vinyl, CDs and signed product are available via her online store HERE.

Last fall, she performed the fan-favorite track “IF KARMA DOESN’T GET YOU (I WILL)” on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” a standout song from the LP that also landed on Spotify’s U.S. Viral Chart.

True to its name, THE ART OF BEING A MESS captures the emotional rollercoaster Spencer Smith experienced while writing her second album. Each song taps into a feeling—anger, devastation, love, peace, confusion and everything in between, sometimes all at once. Reflecting on the chaos of being human, each song finds Spencer Smith revisiting real stories and experiences in her life. With this album, she reminds listeners to embrace and feel comfortable in their emotions, that not everything is black-and-white.

THE ART OF BEING A MESS follows her debut album, Mirror (2023), which features the RIAA Certified Platinum singles “Flowers” and “Fingers Crossed”—the latter of which peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has reached over 875 million global streams.

From a small town on Vancouver Island, Spencer Smith began her musical journey in 2019, gaining a sizeable audience online. Through her music, she explored breakups, complex feelings about school, family and friends. Spencer Smith has performed at the MTV Video Music Awards, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and the People’s Choice Awards—where she was also a Best New Artist nominee.
