Hong Kong-based shoegaze band Lucid Express has announced their sophomore LP, Instant Comfort, due out February 20th via Kanine Records. For a first taste of the album, they've shared lead single "Something Blue" — which showcases the band's extensive soundscapes while vocalist Kim Ho explores the creeping melancholia that comes from uncertain relationships — along with a video featuring footage submitted from fans and friends from across the globe.
Mixed by Kurt Feldman (The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Depreciation Guild) during marathon overnight trans-pacific sessions via Discord, Instant Comfort captures the unsettling stillness of the nighttime hours, pairing airy melodies with walls of jangling guitars and hazy, swirling feedback. A follow up to the band's self-titled 2021 debut and 2022's reissue of their Floret EP, the nine songs on Instant Comfort are more complex and layered than anything they've previously released, while managing to remain clearer than ever.
In the years since the release of their debut LP, Lucid Express has racked up widespread praise from fans and critics alike, toured multiple countries, and played festivals like Slide Away and LEVITATION. They will return to North America in 2026 for a string of US dates, including a performance at NYC's New Colossus Festival in March. |
