To celebrate a triumphant year since the release of his masterful album Quaranta, legendary Detroit rapper, hip-hop experimentalist, and cultural innovator Danny Brown returns with a deluxe version of his critically acclaimed 2023 opus Quaranta (Deluxe), out now via Warp Records. The record features bonus tracks “Cheaters” and “Keep It To Me” with fresh production from Detroit legends Black Milk and Black Noi$e, as well as instrumental versions of album standouts “Tantor,” “Jenn’s Terrific Vacation,” “Y.B.P.,” and “Dark Sword Angel.”
Since the release of Quaranta last fall, Brown brought his headline tour, The Quaranta ‘24 Tour, across the United States and Europe for a sprawling 44 dates. Over the summer, he teamed up with Alice Longyu Gao on the searing “Bird W/O Nest.” In September, he released the Delphino Productions-produced music video for "Dark Sword Angel" - Watch HERE. This fall, after dates in Canada, Danny Brown will be joining Knocked Loose on the road for select shows, including Santa Ana, Chicago, and Milwaukee.
A spiritual bookend to his breakout album XXX, Quaranta (Deluxe) represents the end of the Detroit rapper’s former era. Releasing new music is a cornerstone of several significant changes in Brown’s life thus far. Most notably, Brown recently relocated from his hometown of Detroit to Austin, Texas where he’s living a sober life and tapes his comedy podcast The Danny Brown Show with YMH Studios. Featuring guest appearances from friends and co-collaborators like JPEGMAFIA, Hannibal Buress, Adam Ray, Ali Macofsky, Logic, and Code Orange’s Jami Morgan, The Danny Brown Show reveals Brown’s humanity while also giving him a platform to allow his sharp sense of humor to run wild. In a recent episode of his podcast, he is joined by the artists, producers, and mixers, Kassa Overall, Mario C, Bruiser Wolf, MIKE, Skywlkr, and more to discuss collaborating on Quaranta. Watch HERE.
Since trailblazing into the hip-hop scene with XXX, released on Fool’s Gold in 2011, Danny Brown has whipped ravers into frenzies across the world, appeared on late night TV, worked with some of the biggest names in music and donned multiple magazine covers along the way. He’s bridged old and new-school rap royalty (collabs from Earl Sweatshirt to Q-Tip to Kendrick Lamar) and linked with the most grailed underground electronic record labels. And most remarkably, he has done all this while remaining inexplicably himself; never veering too far one way or another, or bothering to explain how he maintains balance.
