Today, New York City-based pop/rock powerhouse Scotia Rose share their charming debut double singles and videos for "Run," with its official video, and "Queens and Kings" with its official video, out now. The band will celebrate the new music live in Brooklyn, NY tonight at Brooklyn Bowl. Tickets are on sale now here.
“Run”, filled with retro-hard rock blended with modern pop country charm, was penned by frontman Jeff Weiss as his former band, the U.S. Americans, were gearing up to play their final show. "I wasn’t quite ready to throw in the towel. The song comes from a place of ‘now what.' The only answer I could find was to keep pushing, keep fighting, keep running. Run away from that ending toward a new beginning." Weiss credits the track for giving him the strength to decide to start over. "Once I finished it, I knew it was time to close one door and open another."

The accompanying music video, made by Kevin Banker for "Run" is a compilation of footage that evokes both hope and loss. Weiss says, "I didn’t tell him what the song was about. I prefer not to and let the listener find their own meaning. Kevin said he felt feelings of loss and he wasn’t wrong."
The second of the double singles, "Queens and Kings," emerged as Weiss played several shows as a cover band with the people who would later form Scotia Rose. Weiss recalls, "Those are long sets with a lot of songs and I was trying to incorporate some of the things I picked up while learning those songs into my own material." The track is a sweet ode to Weiss' bandmates–their work ethic, their decision to work together, and to dedicate their lives to the craft. Weiss adds, "These people work so hard, are lifelong and lifetime musicians, by trade and by every other metric and they saw something in me that made them want to take this trip with me. It’s for everyone getting up there with their instrument or even their laptop multiple times a week." Both songs, which are now fan favorites at live shows, were produced by Phil Duke and Scotia Rose and mastered by Dan Walker.

The video for "Queens and Kings" consists of live footage shot by Hugo Salazar of the band playing The Cutting Room in NYC, and captures the raw, dynamic live spirit the brand brings to the stage. Weiss says, "I thought it would be a great time and place to capture the royal energy of the track." It also includes footage of the band hanging out at one of Weiss' favorite spots in the city before the show, Carl Schurz Park.
The band will hit the road through the end of the summer and into fall across New York and Connecticut with four more shows lined up until the final show on October 19 at Queens Night Market in Flushing, Queens, NY. See a full list of dates below and get tickets here.
