Swedish artist, songwriter and producer Skott represents a new era of female artists, where authenticity, creativity and staying true to her own being matters above all else.
In just a couple of years Skott has garnered over 250K followers, and her debut album Always Live For Always (2020) was praised by BILLBOARD, CLASH, COMPLEX, LINE OF BEST FIT, NME to name a few. After her critically acclaimed debut single ‘Porcelain’ in 2016, her music spread like wildfire all over the world and the track amassed tens of millions of plays across streaming platforms and secured the approval of megastars Katy Perry and Lorde in the process. Releases to date have amassed over 100 million streams, reached #1 globally on Hype Machine, and presented opportunities for the artist to support acts like MØ and Phantogram.
Skott is now back with new material, where she is showcasing her natural aptitude for pop with her single ‘Evergreen’, as she prepares to release her second full-length album later this fall. On the song, Skott shares: “In a way, it’s about a time-tested love, a relationship with a lot of history and growth. Like you can read it in the tree’s rings and scars. But at the same time there’s naivety, this young, unspoiled, puppy love side – an ever-green crown on a massive gnarly oak. I picture it growing taller and more beautiful with the years, while staying vibrant. I’ve always believed that this sort of love exists, and I’ve been feeling like I’ve found it. There’s someone special to me that inspired this song.”
“The song makes me want to climb trees. I also sing in my “kids choir” voices, which is me pretending to be a whole gang of little kids with different characters. They often come out in my more playful songs that bring out the inner child in me. The kids carry a lot of energy and hit those higher notes with a lot of power, because they don’t care about getting it right or pretty, they just shout at the top of their lungs.” |
