Today’s single follows “Wish You Did,” and “Moon” which Hollywood Life said, “is a glimmering dash of optimism, a lunar-inspired love song that showcases both Jonah’s songwriting and voice.” Jonah also collaborated with Matoma for “Summer Feeling” which was praised by The Hidden Hits for “[whisking] us off our feet one verse at a time.”
On March 1, 2022 Jonah will embark on his first North American tour as the support for Maisie Peters. The dates start in Minneapolis, MN and conclude on April 1 in Los Angeles. Along the way he will make stops in, among other markets, Chicago, New York City, Dallas, and Vancouer. The full tour is listed below and tickets are available here.
Embodying contrast, Savannah, GA native Jonah Kagen approaches the guitar with the instinctual know-how of a jazz virtuoso, but also pens the kinds of lyrics that turn into festival singalongs, tweets, and tattoos. In fall 2020, he teased out his original single “Broken,” previewing the song by encouraging his followers to “co-write” with him via TikTok, which incited a flurry of duets. As the video amassed millions of social views and engagements, he built up anticipation for its formal release, attracting a staggering 30,000 pre-saves. Over the first three months post-release, “Broken” gathered over 10.5MM streams across streaming platforms. After amassing over 10 million total streams and receiving acclaim from the likes of OnesToWatch, he presents every facet of himself in 2021.
Having written “Broken” during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Kagen explained, “the midst of the virus was a very dark time. I felt like people needed something to represent how they felt, but in a hopeful way. I could see the power of what ‘Broken’ initially did on TikTok where so many people filled in their own stories in the comments. Lyrically, it’s a cry for help when you reach your breaking point, but it’s also a reminder to keep going.”
