Lift to Experience, the short-lived yet still legendary trio from Denton, TX, reunited in 2016 after more than a decade apart to play Guy Garvey’s Meltdown Festival in London. The band also played a handful of smaller shows in their home state. With no further live performances on the horizon, this is simply not an opportunity to be missed. Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes may capture the band’s aesthetic best as she compares them to “a doomed angel singing over a desert storm.”
During their short time as a band, Lift to Experience achieved high critical acclaim and were so beloved by John Peel that he invited them to record three Peel sessions in just five months, and the band were included in the Best 125 Peel Sessions of all time.
In early 2017, Mute reissued Lift to Experience’s lone album, The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads, on CD and vinyl formats. Additionally, a deluxe vinyl box set will be released on March 24th and will feature Lift to Experience’s classic 04/15/2001 Peel session as well as their demo EP from 1997.
