“Each of these 12 tracks is a party unto itself, complete with scuzzy bass, bright vocal harmonies, and enough reverb to fill a decently sized punch bowl.” – Consequence of Sound

“The band’s mastery of 50s era vocals and classic surf guitar will have you dancing in your chair while considering buying tickets to Hawaii.” - Noisey

[Lead singer Jessica Louise] Dye sings with an easiness that disguises how technically demanding the parts are. Translation: girl can sing, and she does.” – Brooklyn Vegan

“Somehow, they’ve managed to balance organic, unfiltered energy with the finesse necessary to craft lush and dreamy soundscapes that make you want to both chill and get up to dance and freak out – which is quite a feat.” – Alt Citizen

In advance of the March 4 release of their debut LP, NYC’s High Waisted is now streaming On Ludlow in full on Consequence of Sound. After paying their dues and building up a bad-ass reputation in the Lower East Side, the band is ready to release their sunny surf-pop to the rest of the world. In the midst of a dreary winter, Jessica Louise Dye and her band of long-haired hunks bring back the feel-good, warm summer vibes the city so desperately needs.

After the nonstop Winter Whatever tour (shot by the band for Impose), a trip to theDaytrotter studios, summertime shows on boats, and fundraiser “baked” sales, High Waisted is definitely due for a full album. On Ludlow will be self-released on March 4 with a hometown Lower East Side release show on March 3 at Mercury Lounge. The band will also be playing multiple showcases at this year’s SXSW.

High Waisted thrives on letting the city that never sleeps join in as another member of the band, holding just as much influence as any of the members and serving as the perfect backdrop to the endless summer nights spent on rooftops, the crushes gone wrong, and the friendships and memories that make it all right again. On Ludlow is Jessica Louise Dye’s narrative of love and life in the Lower East Side filtered through a lens of reverb and sunshine.

Los Angeles dream pop duo Chris & Dexy Valentine of Magic Wands are back with their highly anticipated second album Jupiter out on Cleopatra Records Feb 26th 2016. You may know them from their infectious single Black Magic from their debut album Aloha Moon featuring Space which was praised by Spin magazine as “a sexy and propulsive stunner” and earned the band opening slots for The Kills, The Horrors, The Breeders, The Jesus and Marychain, The Black Keys and more. The band returns with a bigger even dreamier sound with their most ambitious album to date, self-produced & featuring more cosmic layered guitar tracks, swirling pop vocals, and driving uptempo beats. The band expanded from an electronic duo and are now joined by new band members Tommy Alexander on bass & Keith Crutchfield on drums.

Updated Fat White Family North American tour dates
(with Gateway Drugs, Dilly Dally)

'Songs For Our Mothers' out now via Without Consent/Fat Possum Records

"A truly bracing performance." The Independent (live revew)

“Studiously crafted and meticulously executed from start to finish, if any doubts remained as to whether Fat White Family were the most important rock and roll band of their generation, this should put a lid on it once and for all. For Songs for Our Mothers is of a rare breed of record that's both of its time yet timeless in nature.. “ Drowned In Sound

“What makes them special is that it’s organic. Their music is an extension of themselves, pure id, and that’s what makes them so enthralling. This is the sound of a death-or-glory headlong charge.” Line Of Best Fit

"There's a lot to be said for saying the wrong thing." The Quietus/lead review

“Fat White Family never sought to embrace high art. High art thrust itself upon them.” NY Observer

”…off-kilter, anthemic passages.” Autre

“Any album that makes you worry about yourself is worth exploring. It’s even better if it’s excruciatingly cool in the process. Fat White Family have built a nonstop, sit-down kind of album that grips you all the way through its strangely elegant finish. But where Songs For Our Mothers really triumphs is in its ability to take you somewhere totally new – even if you’d prefer not to know where that is.” Pancakes And Whiskey

“Affliction and addiction shape their twisted worldview, and while their musical translation of this mindset—infusing the darkly-shaded psychedelia of Velvet Underground with the cheap electronic throb of Suicide— is anything but pretty on the ears, the group’s knotted noise feels inviting.” Pitchfork

“…a brilliant, dirty, miserable, provocative, dirge of an album” Louder Than War

"eye-curdling electronic-subverting monsters that evolve into persistent, inescapable jams." Rolling Stone Australia

“…the band's most intricate and best recordings yet. It’s as if they’re goading, ‘Sure, criticise us, but just listen to these choruses!’ NME

Wussy Release Video for "Dropping Houses" + New Album Out Next Friday 3/4

Wussy Release New “Dropping Houses” Video

Forever Sounds Out March 4th

On Tour Now

“America’s best songwriting band might now be among its best soundscaping ones”
 - SPIN

“A swaggering, bleary, distorted churn topped off by another virtuoso vocal duet
- Stereogum

“Maximum singability and staying power” - Pitchfork

Following the release of lead single Dropping Houses”, Cincinnati’s Wussy has now added a dynamic visual accompaniment to the track. Premiered today on Stereogum and directed by Scott Fredette, the video offers an ominous twist to a modest performance video. With colorful bursts of light and flashes we see the band contrasted against a black background with the overlay of vibrantly layered stills of galaxies, shooting stars, and eerily abstract treetops. The lyrics look back on a toxic relationship and reference the Wizard of Oz through a singable wall of noise and fuzzy melodic swirl. Dubbed by SPIN as “their most challenging and densely textured to date”, the band’s sixth full-length Forever Sounds will be released March 4 via Shake It Records & Damnably (UK/Europe).

Following the release of their cult classic debut in 2005, “to certain fans of Lucinda Williams, Crazy Horse, Mekons and R.E.M., Wussy became the best band in America almost instantaneously with...Funeral Dress” (SPIN). Made up of Chuck Cleaver (Ass Ponys), Lisa Walker, Mark Messerly, Joe Klug, and John Erhardt, the band has truly come into their own on the new album. While their pop sensibilities remain intact, the mix and instrumentation are more reminiscent of the band’s noise-heavy live shows. The album’s ten tracks are full of hope, determination, heartbreak, deception, aliens, the supernatural, the everyday, friendship, love and second chances. Get a glimpse of what the album has in store with the official track listing below and be sure to catch Wussy on their nation wide tour happening now.

Sune Rose Wagner said of ‘Run Mascara Run’, “…'Run Mascara Run' was partly inspired by a trip to the Bronx in NY with my mentor Richard Gottehrer and the one and only Dion, of Dion And The Belmonts fame. I remember distinctly Dion telling fantastic stories of gang life, girl crushes and of course Doo Wop. Hip Hop of course has always been a huge influence on everything I do so for the first time I decided to add a spoken word, stream of consciousness, rap part to a Raves tune. The notion of girls going off to war, instead of men has been haunting me for quite some time, imagine if that was the case! Images of the War in the Pacific, California surfer boys grieving the loss of their girlfriends or wives, etc. What if bombs had fallen in George Lucas’ American Graffiti? This is quite a schizo tune! Rave On X…”

Beach House are thrilled to announce a series of “installation” shows interspersed throughout their upcoming 2016 headlining tour in support of Thank Your Lucky Stars and Depression Cherry.
These performances will be held in art spaces, galleries, community centers, and various alternative venues in the following cities: Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Baltimore, Austin, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. Venues will be announced 24-48 hours before each show for those who have purchased tickets.
Each show will have Beach House performing in their original formation (as a duo),  within a special installation the band created for this tour. A majority of the material will focus on tracks from Thank Your Lucky Stars, Devotion, and their self-titled debut.
Tickets for the March dates will go on sale Friday, February 26th at 11 am ET and available at the band's website [link].  Tickets sales for April and May will be announced in the coming weeks.
For more details on the Installation Shows, see below.
Beach House’s 2016 North American and European tour schedule resumes Monday, February 29th in Cleveland at House of Blues and has been extended through August 12th-13th at Eaux Claires Music Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. New highlights include: London’s Field Day June 12th; Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago July 15th-17th; Pickathon in Happy Valley, Oregon August 5th-7th.
Depression Cherry (released Aug. 28, 2015) is the second consecutive top 10 album for Beach House, coming in at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and spent 5 weeks at #1 on the CMJ Top 200.
Thank Your Lucky Stars (released October 16th,  2015) entered at #38 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and peaked at #5 on the CMJ Top 200 chart.
Beach House’s Thank Your Lucky Stars and Depression Cherry were recorded during the same two-month span, and produced by the band and Chris Coady at Studio in the Country in Bogalusa, Louisiana. Both albums are available now in North America from Sub Pop, in Europe from Bella Union and in Australia from Mistletone.
MORE FROM BEACH HOUSE ON THE INSTALLATION SHOWS:
PLEASE READ BEFORE PURCHASING A TICKET
We are very excited to announce a series of performances interspersed throughout our North American spring tours. They will be taking place in galleries, art spaces, community centers, and various other alternative venues. Here are the cities and dates:
March 2nd - Chicago                              April 10th - Austin
March 4th - Toronto                                April 21st - Los Angeles
March 8th - Montreal                              April 26th - San Francisco
March 12th - Boston                               April 29th - Portland
March 20th - Philadelphia                       May 1st - Vancouver
March 22nd - New York                          May 3rd - Seattle
March 23rd - New York
March 24th - Baltimore
WHAT TO EXPECT
We are going to install a design we have created and play as a two-piece within this “installation."  The performance will be continuous without breaks.  Due to the lack of stages, the audience will be expected to sit on the floor (bring a pillow!).  The show will feature songs mostly from Thank Your Lucky Stars, Devotion and our self titled record (songs we can play as a two piece). This is by no means a "stripped down" or intentionally intimate performance. The design requires a maximum audience of 200, so that all can see the performance space.
THE CONCEPT
It has always been difficult to carry the initial moments of creativity that inspire our music through the process of making and releasing a record. There are many chances along the way for the feeling to get lost. A lot of “bedroom” bands experience this when they get to the studio or the stage. This installation performance is an attempt to elicit this pure, embryonic state of mind for ourselves and our audience.

A NOTE ON TICKET PRICES
The ticket costs for these alternative-space performances are much higher than our normal shows. This is due to the very high production costs and low ticket number. The ticket price is set as low as possible in order to cover our costs and not lose money on the show.  We sincerely apologize if it’s unaffordable for any fans who may want to attend.
