X ANNOUNCE MORE SUMMER TOURING
KCRW Annenberg Show & Hopscotch, Kaaboo Festivals Added To Itinerary

Performing First Four Albums – In Their Entirety – In Orange County

Hear Los Angeles, Wild Gift, Under the Big Black Sun &
More Fun in the New World

X , the long-time leaders of the L.A. Punk Scene, have announced more of their summer, live concert tour plans. The original line-up will perform at the KCRW “Sound in Focus” Annenberg Live Series on August 8th with Dwight Yoakam. The concert is free for all ages; those interested in attending need to RSVP at KCRW.com. X have also been confirmed to perform at this year’s Hopscotch festival on September 12th in Raleigh, NC as well as September 19th at the Kaaboo Festival held at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, CA.

As was previously announced, X will bring their 4-Album Show plays to Orange County in July. In addition, an east-coast / mid-west swing will bring the quartet to Ridgefield, CT on July 17th before working their way south to DC and then across to the mid-west with plays in Cleveland, Detroit and Chicago. X will then head east again with a show in Boston before wrapping up with 3 shows at the City Winery in NYC, August 1-3.

Formed in 1977, X quickly established themselves as one of the best bands in LA's flourishing first wave punk scene. Featuring vocalist Exene Cervenka, vocalist/bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer DJ Bonebrake, their debut 45 was released on the seminal Dangerhouse label in 1978. While these songs were later re-recorded for their second album, the versions on Adult Books / We're Desperate reveal X's raw talent for totally sincere songwriting and stripped-down rock n' roll.  This past April, the band re-issued that first single, in its original 7-inch format, as limited edition colored vinyl.

The original line-up of X remains John Doe, Exene Cervenka, Billy Zoom, and D.J. Bonebrake.

Athens' Own, Thayer Sarrano, Announces NewLP for August 28th!

Athens, GA's Powerful Singer/Songwriter,
Thayer Sarrano, Announces Shaky,
Releasing August 28th!

Photo: Jason Thrasher

"Thayer Sarrano is a beguiling Athens-based singer who casts an exquisite spell with her spare, ghostly songs that haunt the ears from a distance. Subtle, southern, lonesome and eerie, she clearly knows her way around heavy, drowsy reverb, bringing forth obvious comparisons to Mazzy Star and Chan Marshall. After spending most of her time as a supporting player with numerous Athens outfits, she's definitely gotten my attention…" - Jeff Clark, Stomp and Stammer

"Thayer Sarrano is one of my favorite new artists. She's a quadruple threat, as she writes super cool songs, has an amazing voice and plays both guitars and keys extremely well. She's also a great stage presence and person. She has given both my daughter and I piano lessons, but please don't hold my piano abilities against her. That's not her fault."
Patterson Hood (Drive-By Truckers)

“The New Queen of Shoegaze”- Americana UK

Thayer Sarrano is forging her own path into a southern- psych-dreamland, bottling up ghosts and bringing them to life through her ethereal desert rock hymns. The tones tremble and bend, layered in swirling atmospherics. The angelic voice will pull you in close to share devastatingly beautiful and heart-breaking secrets, while shadowy figures dance in the background. This is music that envelops the listener and may transport you to another world or time. A magical place that is melancholic and haunting, yet bursting with heavenly light.

With her latest release, Shaky, The Athens, GA multi-instrumentalist sounds, more than ever, like where she is from. She grew up in a monastery and then the swamp in southern, coastal Georgia. Classically trained as a child, awakened by Grunge in the 90s, with chanting forever in her subconscious, she had always written instrumental compositions and poetry. Songwriting came when she landed in the vibrant musical community of Athens, GA and began to collaborate with friends to form her own band, as well as establish herself as a studio/touring session player (Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven, T. Hardy Morris, of Montreal, Dave Marr, David Barbe, many more). Debut album, King was released in 2009 dubbing her “The new Queen of Shoegaze” - Americana UK.  The sparse and raw album was recorded live in her living room in one day. Her follow up LP, Lift Your Eyes to the Hills, (2012), enters more complex arrangements and features the single “The Bend,“ written for Groninger Museum, The Netherlands, leading to consistent European touring. The record was produced by Thayer and Hank Sullivant (Kuroma,  MGMT ), and was an independent release as a charitable campaign for Nuci’s Space’s teenage rock camp, “Camp Amped,” of which Thayer is passionately affiliated. “Featuring heavily spiritual themes, it could have collapsed under it’s own weight, but ‘Hill’s manages to maintain a startling lightness of being.“ -Flagpole Magazine.  Now, with Shaky, we see Sarrano at her bravest and most vulnerable.

Written in an unstable period of much loss, Shaky is still a record of grace and perseverance. The honest, painted lyrics weave the mystical with personal experiences. But to Thayer, it’s all real. “I’ll feel like I have to just make this quilt out of these patches of visions I’ve collected and then suddenly the song is finished and I realize it’s all true…” We start to believe her that these seemingly abstract visions are really happening, and in this other world we see pictures we can relate to. Pictures of dissolving relationships in “Crease”—“your memory unties my cells/ it breaks the line from your heart to mine…” Of the elusive in title track—”…I trace your echo i follow your lead/ you’re shaky shaky but you settle me,” of the search for something greater in “Glimpses” — “there’s a world at the same time as this one/it’s bright it trembles it glistens,” and of the beautiful ether in “Lost Art”—“their hands are open, call to the wild/ layer landscapes, breaking the sky/ I remember them from when I was a child/ it’s the same little image from inside my eyes…“

Dovetailing the thick twang of the country with the airy, echoing, spacious feeling of an empty church, Sarrano has carved out a pocket in which her otherworldly music has room to breathe. Or perhaps the pocket was already there and Sarrano stumbled upon it, becoming a vector for something deep and soulful and strange. Regardless, once you’ve stepped into that pocket with her, you’re bound to want to return.

Heartless Bastards Share Funny New Video Starring Bushwick Bill

FOR "HI-LINE" STARRING BUSHWICK BILL

ON TOUR NOW

"Just open up your imagination...Heartless Bastards will fill the void."
-Bushwick Bill

NEW YORK, NY - JUNE 25, 2015 -- Heartless Bastards have released a hilarious new video for the song "Hi-Line" from their just-released album Restless Ones. The video was directed by Frank Weysos and stars Bushwick Bill who plays the band's agent taking calls from people looking for country, rock and hip hop acts, telling each of them that he has JUST the band they're looking for, and the clip rolls out showing them having a great time dressing up as gangstas, a death metal band, and a classic country act.

The reviews for Restless Ones have been stellar. "Erika Wennerstrom's voice cuts deep: It's warm yet gritty, throaty yet sweet, gigantic, yet intimate," said NPR. "As the singer-guitarist of the Heartless Bastards, she's found the perfect vessel for that voice - a mix of country-rock twang, classic-rock heroics and restless ambition that's not afraid to incorporate psychedelia, indie rock and pure pop songcraft. All of these elements are on display throughout Restless Ones." Pitchfork said, "With their fifth studio album, it's safe to bet that the quartet will have little trouble eliciting an energy of '70s-era Thin Lizzy proportions. Erika Wennerstrom has always possessed the kind of powerhouse vocals that electrify a crowd, and the atmosphere of Restless Oneslives up to that intensity...This is a band that was born to be heard via massive, blaring speakers, using their colossal sound to fill every corner of a cavernous stadium."

Restless Ones came out June 16. It is the band's fifth album and was produced by GRAMMY® Award-winning producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen, Swans). Restless Ones was tracked in August 2014 during a 10-day session at El Paso, TX's renowned Sonic Ranch. Located on 2,300 acres of pecan orchards bordering the Rio Grande and Mexico, the studio - the largest residential recording complex in the world - provided the perfect setting, miles away from all real world responsibilities and thus able to fully invest themselves in the act of creation.

Heartless Bastards are currently on a summer tour with support from Craig Finn (of The Hold Steady). The tour kicked off on June 10 at the Thirsty Hippo in Hattiesburg, MS and takes them across the east coast and Midwest before ending on July 2 at Trees in Dallas, TX. A September tour with Alberta Cross opening has also been confirmed, as have October dates with Slothrust.

All tour and festival dates are listed below and can be found on their interactive website experience RestlessOnes.net. Their fans will also be able to share photos, videos and check out new music directly from the band.

Danielle de Picciotto Readies Debut Graphic Novel "We Are Gypsies Now!" * Premieres Video for New Song "Es Gibt Kein Zurück"

Danielle de Picciotto
Readies Release of Forthcoming Graphic Diary "We Are Gypsies Now!" Out August 13th on Amok Books
Premieres Video for "Es Gibt Kein Zurück" off New Album "Tacoma" Available Now

Watch the video for "Es Gibt Kein Zurück" HERE!

Written and illustrated by (former) Berlin-based multimedia artist and musician Danielle de Picciotto (Crime & The City Solution, co-founder of Berlin's "Love Parade"), forthcoming graphic novel "We Are Gypsies Now!" documents the author's transition to a nomadic lifestyle after becoming frustrated with a status-quo, materialistic culture, and setting out in search of a life with greater meaning and deeper purpose.

In her story, de Picciotto joins husband Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) on a multi-year voyage around the world, which includes stops in various global cities taking on odd jobs, non-stop live touring, and an array of trials, adventures and profound life-changing experiences such an undertaking might inevitably provide.

In support of the book's release, De Picciotto and Hacke will be bringing their story to the states for a series of exclusive, live events this summer, where excerpts from "We Are Gypsies Now!" will be set to visual and auditory soundtracks, featuring new and original material from De Picciotto's latest album "Tacoma" (on which "Es Gibt Kein Zurück" appears) as well the couple's upcoming new album "Perserverantia" out later this year.

Musically, both live and on her new album, de Picciotto employs unusual instruments like the hurdy-gurdy and the autoharp, while accompanying her spoken-word poetry and delicate vocal stylings with multi-layered violin harmonies. "Tacoma" evokes imagery of lonesome desert landscapes, enchanted forests, and otherworldly trance-states while straddling maritime thunderstorms by combining recordings of nature's manifold phenomena with radio interferences, reverberating tribal percussions, electronic treatments, and the soothing and genuinely organic vibrations of acoustically generated drones and internal mantras. Her lyrics focus on the mystical implications of the nomadic life, clairvoyant renderings of female intuition, and tales of dreamlike revelations, while the instrumental pieces of this astonishing album transport the listener into paths never tread, or, like Danielle herself, who only recently returned for the first time to the place of her birth, into a journey to the beginning of time.

** Danielle De Picciotto and Alexander Hacke will be in New York and available for interviews from July 15th - 31st, to schedule an interview, send a request and we'll be sure to accommodate. **

Advance Praise for "We Are Gypsies Now!"

"'We Are Gypsies Now!' explores the nomadic option as perhaps the only possible cultural and social response to gentrification and consumerism... Reading this is an inspiration, a wake-up call, and perhaps even a demand to once again embrace the liberating freedom of chance. - Jack Sargeant, Author

It's like being handed a pair of magic glasses and suddenly seeing all of the invisible bounds and barriers blocking our creative vision. - Johanna Went, Performance Artist

We Are Gypsies Now! showcases the writing and illustration of de Picciotto, with layout design by David Yow,and now has a Facebook page at Facebook.com/WeAreGypsiesNow. Amok Books is distributed by SCB Distributors.

"Tacoma" was produced by Wharton Tiers and is available now via Moabit Music overseas and Forced Exposure in the US.
