 PRAISE FOR “DANGEROUS DAYS”

Nika Danilova’s voice is an elemental, powerful thing.” (Best New Music) – Pitchfork

“Zola Jesus’ most profound, accessible release to date.” – Billboard

“A beautiful electro-pop gem, and the only thing dangerous about it is how freaking addictive it is.” –NYLON

“Elegant synth-pop banger” – Spin

“Danilova has a full-on anthem on her hands with this one.” – Flavorwire
Zola Jesus unleashes an otherworldly video for “Dangerous Days” directed by contemporary visionaryTim Saccenti who has created an awe-inspiring backdrop for this anthemic song.  Saccenti explains, “The song is a pure emotional plea, a future primitive call to arms. To create a moment of light in these dark times was our hope. Eschewing a heavy narrative we let the images of the Earth, filmed in wide screen and mixed with a tense unnatural presence, wash over the viewer while Nika communicates her powerful message.”  Nika describes the video making process, “Working with Tim was effortless. His creative ambition to turn the abstract into a tangible feel is a rare treasure.”   Watch the video for “Dangerous Days,” premiered by Vogue.com here.

Zola Jesus’s TAIGA is due for release October 7th, 2014 on Mute.  First single “Dangerous Days” is now available to stream here, and the album is available to pre-order here.  Nika’s record release tourbegins in San Francisco on October 8th, hitting major US cities, before the UK and Europe. Full list of dates is below, and tickets are on sale now here.  Watch the tour trailer here.

Nika is the 25-year-old behind Zola Jesus’ creative incarnations as sole singer and songwriter.  Influenced by her time in Iceland, Vermont, and British Columbia, TAIGA was written on Vashon Island, WA and conjures all these places while creating a sonic space of its own that each listener can travel to, explore, hide in, and celebrate. Nika tracked and mixed the album in Los Angeles with co-producer Dean Hurley (David Lynch, Danger Mouse, Sparklehorse).

At once challenging and accessible, TAIGA is a transition for Zola Jesus. Undeniably branded with what Nika terms a “piercing ambition,” the album is best described by the artist herself: “The music on the record is massive, with big brass and beats, crystal clear vocals…It’s the most accessible music I’ve ever made, but also the most earnest and passionate. I gave everything for this record, more than ever before.”

Honeyblood Release Liz Phair Cover For Rookie Theme Song

HONEYBLOOD RELEASE COVER OF LIZ PHAIR'S "MESMERIZING" FOR ROOKIE

DEBUT ALBUM OUT NOW

HONEYBLOOD
Shona McVicar and Stina Tweeddale aka Honeyblood have just debuted this month's Rookie theme song, their take on Liz Phair's "Mesmerizing," which was produced by former Hole and Smashing Pumpkins bassist Melissa Auf der Maur. You can listen to the track and read an exclusive interview with the duo below.

Honeyblood released their self-titled debut album last month, receiving praise from critics at Pitchfork, Stereogum, BUST and more. Of the album, the New York Times wrote "Honeyblood is a bracing two piece...that specializes in a refreshing contrast of jangle and derision. They pair the melancholy guitars of early '90s shoe gaze with surf-rock tempo - the result is energetic, peppy hostility."

Honeyblood will play a run of dates in the UK this fall. Watch this space for more news..

"Honeyblood is a bracing two piece...that specializes in a refreshing contrast of jangle and derision. They pair the melancholy guitars of early '90s shoe gaze with surf-rock tempo - the result is energetic, peppy hostility." New York Times

"Rolling drums providing the backbone for toothache-inducing guitars and one hell of a central hook." - Pitchfork

"A blend of blustery vocals and swirling guitars." Noisey

"The self-titled debut from the UK ladies Honeyblood shows off their propensity for making exceptionally well-crafted, indie-pop songs that are simultaneously sweet and sour." - BUST
"...based in Glasgow but sounding like something from a California dream." - FADER

"We fall for Honeyblood, hard." Time Out

"Hazy, wistful sound." - ELLE

"There is so much to adore...There are guitars, which gleam with iridescent beauty. There are vocals, which bubble over with an immediately ingratiating spunk. Most of all, there are lyrics, which pull no punches even amidst all the sweetness." Stereogum

Shuggie Otis

SHUGGIE OTIS
Universal Attractions Agency and World War Trading Company are proud to announce the representation of Shuggie Otis

Psychedelic soul musician Shuggie Otis was only 20 when his album Inspiration Information came out in 1974. He'd already performed on stage with his father, the late bandleader Johnny Otis; while still a teenager, he wrote "Strawberry Letter 23," which sold millions for The Brothers Johnson. Shuggie Otis turned down offers to play guitar with The Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Blood, Sweat & Tears so he could make his own way as a frontman. Otis has since become a cult icon.

2:54 Announce New Album Out November 11th on Bella Union

2:54 ANNOUNCE ALBUM 'THE OTHER I'
OUT NOVEMBER 11TH ON BELLA UNION

DEBUT NEW SONG "IN THE MIRROR" VIA FADER

Photo: Joseph Piper

Bella Union are thrilled to announce the release of The Other I, the new album from 2:54, which will be available on November 11th, 2014. FADER today premiered the brand new song "In The Mirror."

Even before Colette and Hannah Thurlow wrote their new album, the London-based sisters' atmospheric, imaginative and thrilling vein of rock music under the name 2:54 was already a force to be reckoned with. But the events that tested their commitment and resilience have upped the ante, to produce the magnificent drama and beauty of The Other I. From the expansive, tempo-shifting opener "Orion" (recently premiered online), and the pining roots of "The Monaco" to the ambient haunts of "Tender Shoots" and the shape-shifting tour de force of "Raptor," the album significantly widens the net beyond the achievements of 2:54's self-titled debut. The Other I is all the stronger for Hannah and Colette's hands-on approach to production while Colette's lead vocals show a striking versatility. The album's emotional terrain has been carved from circumstances out of their control but equally their sisterly bond.

As Colette explains, the album's title was inspired by a favorite poet, Percy Shelley, "a rousing romantic, politically charged, a proto-punk of sorts. He called his friend and muse Elizabeth Hitchener the 'sister of my soul, my second self.' These lines kept returning to me last year and from there I arrived at The Other IThe Other I is an enquiry into the duality of the human experience - the division between the self that pounds on like a juggernaut in your head, and the self you present to the world. The idea extends to Hannah and I, to our sisterhood. We know intrinsically what the other thinks and feels, music is just another language we use to communicate."

Written in Paris and London, the album was recorded at Bella Union's East London studio before the Thurlows and Alex Robins decamped to North London's Fish Factory to complete it alongside co-producer and mixer James Rutledge, who's worked with the likes of Radiohead and Fever Ray. "In The Mirror" and "Sleepwalker" are cited as key entry points to the album's core values, while lyrically "Orion" sets the scene for the album's adventures. "Raptor" is the album's brilliant finale, with its simmering intro, hypnotic flow, thrilling coda and rallying mantra: "Calling, I'm calling, I'm calling, I can hear it / You don't know us / One more turn and then I'll go / The end, the end, the end is close."

The Other I will be released November 11th on Bella Union. Album artwork and tracklisting can be found below.

MUSIC ICON PRINCE ANNOUNCES TWO BRAND NEW STUDIO

MUSIC ICON PRINCE ANNOUNCES TWO BRAND NEW STUDIO ALBUMS!
ART OFFICIAL AGE’ AND ‘PLECTRUMELECTRUM’
BOTH RELEASED SEPTEMBER 29th

Music icon PRINCE today announces not one, but two, brand new studio albums to be released globally via Warner Bros. Records.  The much-anticipated albums are ‘ART OFFICIAL AGE’ and ‘PLECTRUMELECTRUM’, set to release on September 29th 2014 in the UK.  ‘ART OFFICIAL AGE’ is a solo album and ‘PLECTRUMELECTRUM’ is by Prince’s new band 3RDEYEGIRL.

Both albums, which are sold separately, are now available for pre-order via digital retailers and fromhttp://www.artofficialage.com. Early buyers will be able to unlock ‘instant grat’ tracks from each record.  The album releases will also be marked by a series of very special events taking place globally, to be confirmed shortly.

2014 has been one of the most exciting years yet for the prodigious musical talent.  Together with 3RDEYEGIRL, he rocked UK and European audiences into a frenzy with his sell-out ‘Hit & Run’ tours, generating some of the most significant critical acclaim of his career so far.  In April, NPG Music Publishing was launched, marking the first time Prince’s vast publishing catalog has been independently controlled and administered in over twenty years.  All of this in addition to headlining and curating the Essence Festival on July 4th in New Orleans and a much talked about appearance on hit TV show ‘New Girl’.  2014 has underlined that Prince continues to innovate and surprise, thrilling his fans and welcoming a whole new audience in the process.

The brand new studio albums mark a historic return to Warner Bros. Records, Prince’s original label home.  The renewed partnership came after the announcement that Warner Bros. Records returned to Prince the master recordings of his pioneering ’80s albums, including Dirty Mind1999Purple Rain and Sign ‘O’ the Times.

"Prince is one of just a handful of visionary artists who have truly reshaped and redefined modern music and culture,” said Warner Bros. Records Chairman & CEO Cameron Strang. “For the past 35 years, he has never stopped evolving, challenging himself, reinventing his sound, and pushing boundaries.  In true Prince fashion, he has just given us not one, but two extraordinary albums that express the incredible range and depth of his talent.  All of us at WBR are immensely proud to be working with Prince to bring this brilliant new music to his legions of fans around the world, and needless to say we are thrilled to be working in partnership with him again.”

In releasing two albums on the same day fans get the chance to savor the many different aspects of Prince’s musical talents with ‘ART OFFICIAL AGE’ and ‘PLECTRUMELECTRUM’ offering two very distinct listening experiences.

‘ART OFFICIAL AGE’ is a classic Prince album, produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince and Joshua Welton (@joshuaworld).  Sonically the record is a contemporary concoction of soul, R&B and funk.  The melodies are immediate and prominent as ever and Prince’s vocals are rich and solid, taking full advantage of his vocal range with decidedly, seductive lyrics.

PLECTRUMELECTRUM’ is a classic band record, with 3RDEYEGIRL which include Prince, Donna Grantis (guitar), Hannah Ford Welton (drums) and Ida Nielsen (bass).  Recorded live and in analog the album is an electrifying funk-rock statement.  Many of the tracks from ‘PLECTRUMELECTRUM’ were performed live on the ‘Hit & Run’ tours of the UK earlier this year – incendiary performances in a series of historic venues – which led The Guardian to declare “These are performances by one of the greatest funk-rock bands ever.”  The group was showered in 5-star reviews from all major reviewing media.

More live dates will be confirmed shortly.
