Standout tracks like “You got time and I got money” and “Feisty” became the girly existentialist summer soundtrack —a spirit mirrored in their sold-out U.S. tour, which wrapped in New York City last week, and featured a guest appearance from Sky Ferreira. Now, seeing how the album has taken on a life of its own, Smerz have invited a group of acclaimed artists whose work they admire to reinterpret songs from Big city life. The idea: that letting the music pass through people you admire turns it into a kind of mirror—an alternative form of documentation, reflection, and renewal.
