PRAISE FOR MOTHLAND
"One of [New York’s] most exciting up-and-coming bands..." – Rolling Stone
"More than anything, their sound is engineered to make you move..." – Creem Magazine
"TVOD are elbowing their way out of Brooklyn’s young and burgeoning post-punk scene and into the spotlight, expressive and raw in both stage presence and sonic output." – Alternative Press
""Mantis" is a blast of driving no-frills punk, capturing both the band’s irrepressible persistent energy and their surprisingly sticky melodies. It very much encapsulates the punk ethos of loud, fast, and simple, with blaring guitars, machine-gun percussion, and jittery melodies driving the track forward." – Under the Radar
"TVOD is hellbent on bathing in the blood of punk rock infamy, trudging their own path and cutting through the noise in the glow of artists like Iggy Pop, Viagra Boys, or Warmduscher. Drenched in beer and sweat, the uncontainable raw emotion you experience while the band’s on stage is not lost on recording, although it’s definitely not something you’ll want to miss." – Twnty Three (23)
"The shows are pure energy, pure chaos, and we think you will love them. As a matter of fact, we highly encourage you to experience a show but warn that things can get pretty wild." – Switch Bitch Noise |

Release Bio: Brooklyn-based rockers TVOD stand out with emotional, sometimes juvenile lyrics, paired with driving, catchy songs that never fail to get a crowd moving/moshing. Influenced by post-punk, egg punk and krautrock, TVOD effortlessly weave musical genres in a way that comes off seamlessly. “More than anything, their sound is engineered to make you move” (Creem Magazine). The brainchild of singer-songwriter Tyler Wright, the project draws from personal and external inspirations like the nightlife/music scene, heartaches, World War II, the untimely death of a beloved pet fish, and so on. TVOD’s vivid storytelling paints a gritty tongue-in-cheek picture of being a D.I.Y. artist grinding it out in NYC, complete with fabled tales about the degenerate lifestyle and all the good and the bad that comes with it.
TVOD gear up for their transatlantic trip to Les Trans Musicales (Rennes, FR) with the release of “Car Wreck”. Scheduled for December 3rd, 2024, this new track from the latest Mothland signees is the whole works: a krautrock-esque bassline and backbeat, fuzzed-out guitar licks, psychedelic synthesizer effects, as well as an absolute earworm of a melody in support of poignant lyrics about being reckless and embracing it. RIYL: Viagra Boys, Fountains D.C., Parquet Courts.
TVOD on the track, "Crash course derby with chronic guitar solos. You've always been crazy. This is just the first chance you've ever had to really express yourself. Félix Bélisle and Samuel Gemme co-produced the song. We were looking for somewhere to record and nothing was really speaking to us, until we heard La Sécurité’s debut, which they produced at Gamma Recording Studio in Montréal. We recorded over a couple trips from Brooklyn to Montréal, and slept on the floor at Mothland’s office and at the apartment of Turbo Haüs. " |

TVOD BIO: TVOD (Brooklyn, NY) bloomed into existence in 2019 via a high-energy cassette full of punk songs recorded by Tyler Wright on a Tascam 4-track tape recorder in the basement of a D.I.Y. space he was living in. Since then, the band independently released two EPs – Daisy (2020) and Victory Garden (2021) – along with singles “Alien”, “Mantis”, “Goldfish”, and “Poppies”, as well as two limited run 45’s, Creem Magazine describing their sonic palette as “a nod to traditional post-punk bands like The Pixies as well as newer ones like Dry Cleaning”.
Known for their raw, unapologetic and unpredictable stage performances, TVOD have extensively toured the US, Canada and Europe, performing at major festivals like SXSW, Hopscotch, Sled Island, and Concrete Jungle, all the while sharing the stage with acts like Warmduscher, Snõõper, Gustaf, Civic, and Soul Glo. As written by Anna Zanes of Alternative Press, the 6-piece "are elbowing their way out of Brooklyn’s young and burgeoning post-punk scene and into the spotlight, expressive and raw in both stage presence and sonic output”. She adds: “Balancing reflective lyrics with rowdy live energy, TVOD embody the true ethos of punk rock, and never fail to open up a good pit".
To set in motion “one of [New York’s] most exciting up-and-coming bands” (Rolling Stone), Wright handpicked a standout lineup of Brooklyn freaks, and is now joined, both live and in the studio, by: Mem Pahl on drums, Micki Piccirillo on bass, Jenna Mark on synthesizers, as well as Serge Zbritzher and Denim Casimir on guitar duty. Fresh off recording with producers Félix Bélisle and Samuel Gemme at Gamma Recording Studio (Corridor, Population II, La Sécurité) in Montréal, Québec, TVOD are gearing up to release a new single entitled “Car Wreck” on December 3rd, 2024, their first via the Mothland imprint. Highly recommended for fans of alternative contemporaries like Viagra Boys, Fidlar or Jay Reatard, and punk classics such as Gang of Four or Wire. |
