Co-written by Delacey (Halsey, Demi Lovato) & Grammy-nominated songwriter/producer Scott Effman (JP Saxe, Kelly Clarkson) and produced by Chad Copelin (LANY, Sasha Sloan), this latest effort offers another exciting glimpse into Katelyn Tarver’s forthcoming sophomore album slated for early 2024. “Parallel Universe” unfolds as a pop-leaning, folky piece of storytelling about potential life paths that went unfollowed. It's a quiet contemplation evoking unsparing introspection about missed opportunities and the roads we could have traveled. The track also alludes to the constant 'what if' reminders we often allow in yet hope to ultimately steer clear of once we find peace within.   Katelyn Tarver shares this about “Parallel Universe,”  “When you’re in a phase of re-evaluation, it’s easy for your mind to wander over to ‘what if’s’. What if I had taken that job? What if I had taken more risks when I was young? What if I had pursued that relationship instead of letting it go? Would I be more successful? Would I be happier? Would I not wonder what if? I think it’s so human to ask these questions and to wonder about where our lives might be had we done something different. What if we could talk to that different version of ourselves? What would they say? Would it make things clearer, or would they have the same questions for us? This song is an exploration of that idea. And ultimately coming to the conclusion that I, of course, can’t know for sure the answers to these questions, but that through asking them, I’m learning to make peace with where I have ended up and where I am going.”   “Parallel Universe” follows July’s single "Cinematic," a fairly subdued, late 90s’ guitar-driven inspired tune about looking at life with a bittersweet lens. Beguiling vocals and dulcet tones shine throughout as the track twists and turns through snapshots of Tarver's experiences. “This song is a celebration of being a sensitive, sentimental person. Someone that feels things deeply and wants to channel that into creating a life of beauty and appreciating the small things,” shares Tarver. Prior to “Cinematic,” Tarver released "Starting to Scare Me," which arrived with her signing announcement to Nettwerk and upcoming fall tour. Accompanied by a music video directed by Skyler Brown (Ethel Cain, Royal & The Serpent), “Starting to Scare Me” delves into the vulnerable depths of Tarver's introspection, offering a raw and honest exploration of detrimental tendencies. The track confronts the allure of indulging in harmful behavior as a temporary escape, rather than confronting the underlying causes head-on. Tarver, known for her poignant lyricism and emotive vocals, examines her personal journey of evasion and acceptance. Sonically, the track graces the edges of nostalgia, recalling 90s influences that propel pulsing guitars and memorable hooks to the forefront.    Katelyn Tarver will embark on a 21-date North American headlining tour across various major cities beginning September 6th. Indie-pop labelmate Rosie Darling as well as Australian singer-songwriter Jack Gray will support on select dates. Tarver will follow-up with a 12-date European headlining tour in November. No stranger to live performances as she has supported the likes of James Bay, Michelle Branch, Johnnyswim, and Nina Nesbitt, this is Tarver’s first ever headlining tour which is set to showcase her magnetic stage presence and scope of her musical prowess. Always a music lover she began performing in local & national talent competitions, one of which, American Juniors, led to her first US tour and a move to LA at 19-years-old.   Over the years, Katelyn has earned success with her songs amassing over 200 million streams, led by her viral hit “You Don’t Know.” She has an impressive resume of songwriting credits, having co-written Cheryl Cole’s #1 single “Crazy Stupid Love” and Old Dominion’s single “Young,” which was a winning track on NBC’s Songland.
