DAIISTAR - 'Good Time' (Fuzz Club) Sept. 8, 2023

Made up of Alex Capistran, Nick Cornetti (drums), Misti Hamrick (bass) and Derek Strahan (keys),
DAIISTAR formed in the spring of 2020. Creating a narcotic blend of noise and melody, the band
takes their inspiration from the neo-psychedelic era of the 80s and 90s and pulls it into the future with
modulating synthesisers, heavy guitars, bouncing bass lines, and spiralling hooks. Their debut studio
album, Good Time, was produced by Alex Maas of The Black Angels and engineered by James
Petralli of White Denim.

On their incoming debut, Capistran adds: "To us, these songs were a glimmer of light. Starting a band
at the peak of the pandemic to some might seem ill-timed, but to us it was a way to escape for a
moment. There was something to look forward to and we kept our heads in the future. These songs
guided us through some dark times and hopefully they can do the same for you. GOOD TIME is
here."

(August 31, 2023) - yeule shares “inferno,” the latest single off their forthcoming album softscars out September 22nd via Ninja Tune. "inferno" finds yeule lamenting over a relationship, incorporating burning analogies to describe the intensity in their heart. Contrary to the track's title, the song is light and dewy. Like many of the songs on the forthcoming album, "inferno" was originally born from a journal entry, which yeule often refers to as a scar entry. Speaking on the track they note, "The song is a gash, scar no.9. In this scar I ask the blue flame in my heart, will you ever fade? When you are engulfed and eaten in blue, what was left of me were parts of you." "inferno" follows their previously released single "ghosts" as well as their double single “dazies” and “fish in the pool."

Earlier this month, yeule announced new tour dates across North America and Europe this Fall and Winter with SASAMI supporting all US dates. The tour routing includes stops at Webster Hall in New York and The Fonda in Los Angeles alongside festival appearances at End of The Road, Portola Festival and Levitation Festival. You can find tickets here.

By setting their inner musings to cathartic punk riffs and ethereal electronics, yeule crafted softscars. On the blistering project, they closely examine the anatomy of their long held emotional wounds, making for their most penetrating and daring work yet. By liberating their repressed memories through images of blood, flames, porcelain, and angel wings, they honor the way that pain has shaped their past selves and built their instinct for self-protection.

Though its subject matter is heavy and arcane, there is a sense of joyful catharsis that emanates throughout the project, which was written and produced by yeule and collaborator Kin Leonn, with additional production from Mura Masa and Chris Greatti. Driving it along is yeule’s shape shifting vocals, sounding more assured than ever in all of its jagged edges and haunting whispers, relaying the imperfect process of healing.

The album follows their critically-acclaimed 2022 release, Glitch Princess, which received a Best New Music stamp from Pitchfork. A chameleonic auteur guided by a multidisciplinary ethos, they craft entire worlds and personas through their music, weaving together everything from the classical canon, hypermodern internet cultures, academic theory, the esoteric, and their own carnal desires.

Listen to "inferno" above and stay tuned for more from yeule coming soon.

JORJA SMITH REVEALS TRACK LIST + NEW SINGLE & VIDEO "FALLING OR FLYING"; ALBUM OUT SEPTEMBER 29

JORJA SMITH RELEASES NEW SINGLE

"FALLING OR FLYING"

UNVEILS ACCOMPANYING SELF-DIRECTED VIDEO

REVEALS ALBUM TRACKLIST

PRE-ORDER NEW ALBUM FALLING OR FLYING,

OUT SEPTEMBER 29th 2023

PRESS SHOT HERE / VIDEO CREDITS

Further to climbing the charts with her huge summer single "Little Things" and unveiling the propulsive indie-adjacent track "GO GO GO" last month, today the incomparable Jorja Smith returns with "Falling or flying", the sleek and shiny R&B title track taken from her highly anticipated second album which will be released on September 29th.

Speaking on her director debut, Jorja states that the idea behind the accompanying video “Came to mind ‘cause i always wanted to shoot a video in space” continuing that, “‘Falling Or flying’ just made me think of that. I wanted to go up into space with someone I love and cherish, but they didn’t want to come with me.”

The 'Falling or flying’ music video was produced by Stink Films. On witnessing Jorja as a video director, Stink EP Dom Mckiernan said “Jorja is equally as impressive behind the camera as she is in front of it. Incredibly considered, quick thinking and just such a positive vibe throughout. Jorja had a clear idea of what she wanted and could communicate it to the crew cohesively whilst also being really collaborative and open to figuring out the best way to crystalise her vision together with the crew.”

In addition to releasing the new single, Jorja has also unveiled the tracklist for her forthcoming album ‘Falling or flying’ which includes features from British rapper J Hus and Jamaican singer Lila IkĂ©, alongside 12 brand-new, unreleased tracks.

Of the many British voices in music today, Jorja is among the most commanding, writing at a pitch of intensity and urgency that few can match. Over the past five and half years, since the release of her critically acclaimed debut album Lost & Found, she has been celebrated unanimously across the world for her evocative song-writing, powerful delivery, pure emotion and unbridled talent as a young woman navigating her way through life. It was in 2021 that Jorja’s hiatus from music was broken - enter Be Right Back, the holding space between the sensation that was Lost & Found, and her next project. Be Right Back’was born from playing, jamming, freestyling, and sounding out what Jorja had been on the edge of expressing all her life. It was a project entirely for her fans. “Be Right Back did exactly what I wanted it to do. It was a little waiting room so people knew I was coming back.”

And come back she did - entering a chapter of her return to music that’s certain to draw in and intoxicate Jorja’s fans and new listeners alike. And what has changed for her, in the five years since Lost & Found dominated the charts and the soundscape, “I like this world that I've just come into. And I’m still figuring things out. Always figuring things out.” Jorja says. “This is the first time I’m putting stuff out there that I can connect with right now.” Over the last few years, it’s been a reflective and transformative transition into her mid twenties for her. She’s been able to step into herself and evolve as a songwriter and a woman despite an ever-changing musical landscape.

While she recognizes that the global pandemic has been completely devastating, she acknowledges that it allowed her to stay still, to come more into herself, and to be more in control of the person she is, and of her musical output. Like some of the legendary musicians that came before her, Jorja is looking at the chaos and disorder in the world right now with resourceful, refined eyes, and she sees the glorious opportunity and enormous responsibility that affords.

SHOW ME THE BODY RELEASE TROUBLE THE WATER - REMIXES VIA LOMA VISTA RECORDINGS

(August 31, 2023) - Show Me The Body has unveiled a fresh take on some of their songs from the 2022 full-length album Trouble The Water through an EP of remixes. Leading up to the release, Show Me The Body shared a taste of the remix album with "Food From Plate (Coochie Mix)" by Detroit ghettotech trio HiTech. The reworked version of "Food From Plate" arrived on the heels of the video to the original album version, which was directed by Dennis Wornick. Trouble The Water - Remixes is now available via Loma Vista Recordings.

Adding to the excitement, the trio recently hosted a free show at New York City's Tompkins Square Park in partnership with their label CORPUS, drawing hundreds of enthusiastic fans on a Friday afternoon. Show Me The Body made a stir with their cover of the Beastie Boys' classic "Sabotage," and a captivating performance of their fan-favorite "Trash" from their 2017 Corpus I mixtape.

An amalgamation of friends and idols, the Trouble The Water remixes showcase Show Me The Body's cultural breadth as their original works contort with inspiration from drum and bass beats, hypnotic chopped and screwed energy, and extra crunchy guitars, creating a whole new body of work in the Show Me The Body canon. Trouble The Water - Remixes includes reworkings by Pink Siifu, Michael "5000" Watts of Swishahouse fame, Slauson Malone 1, and Psymun featuring RXKNephew.

Coming off the back of their successful and epic World War Tour earlier this year, Show Me The Body will head to the West Coast to perform with The Garden for a string of nine shows beginning in Oakland on October 14th with stops in Portland, Seattle, Boise, Reno and Phoenix, before wrapping up in San Diego on October 26th. Tickets available HERE.

Released at the end of last year, Trouble The Water is Show Me The Body's fourth full-length and includes the anthemic tracks "WW4," "Loose Talk," which came paired with a video directed by front man Julian Cashwan Pratt, and "We Came To Play." The 12-track album was recorded entirely at CORPUS studios in Long Island City and produced with Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Turnstile, Municipal Waste). Trouble The Water is the culmination of nearly a decade's time barreling against New York City’s structural ambivalence and indifference. The tracks of Trouble The Water both reference and pay homage to the physical city, and the New York Sound: not one particular genre, but the people and subcultures that encapsulate its true foundation.
