Reflections announces Alessandro Cortini (of Nine Inch Nails) shows in NYC & LA, plus a Bitchin Bajas show in NYC
Reflections is proud to announce two solo performances from Alessandro Cortini, on Sept. 29 at Church of the Heavenly Rest in NYC and on Oct. 7 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in LA - ticket are on sale this Friday at 10am local time at ageofreflections.com
Italian musician, producer, composer and instrument builder Alessandro Cortini is one of the foremost figures of contemporary electronic music. A longstanding member of Nine Inch Nails, Cortini has been releasing a steady stream of his own heady music on luminary labels including Mute and Important Records for the past decade. Balancing dark ambience with smokey, pulsing rhythms, his compositions are perfectly restrained, textured and mesmeric. In 2021, in collaboration with boutique synth builders Make Noise, Cortini released his own, custom designed, semi-modular synth, Strega (Italian for ‘witch’). That same year, he used Strega to build his latest full length, Scuro Chiaro (Mute), which Pitchfork described as “pitched somewhere between purgatory and the planetarium [...] consistently managing to thrill and surprise”. Throughout his shadowy rise to fame, Cortini has collaborated with the likes of Lawrence English, Daniel Avery and Merzbow (to name a few).

Chicago trio Bitchin Bajas make trance-inducing instrumental music with a delicate balance of synthetic and non-electronic instruments. Launched in 2010 as a solo side project for Cooper Crain, guitarist of Chicago Krautrock revivalists Cave, their early sound was equally psychedelic but decidedly less aggressive than Crain's primary band. They expanded to a duo with the inclusion of Mahjongg's Dan Quinlivan, adding more synth and guitar textures, and Rob Frye, also of Cave, who added flute, saxophone, and guitar. Their 2022 double LP Bajascillators found the band taking their sound to new places once more, experimenting with MIDI bell sounds, an expanded arsenal of synths, and sharper production, diving deeper into their distinctive take on kosmische.
