In the track's DIY music video Luna and her friends break away from the mundanity of day-to-day life and forget their troubles in the club. "I rounded up some friends and we took a camcorder with us on a night out to capture that feeling of escapism" Luna says.
"I wanted to achieve a big contrast between the fantasy and the feeling of being stuck in a routine, so we also filmed at a local supermarket near where I live, to capture that Groundhog day feeling. The discman and headphones act as a portal between the mundane and the reverie."
The EP also doubles down on the nostalgia with an accompanying CD release, which is available for pre-order now. Pairing fictional and autobiographical elements, the EP stands as a fragmented series of diary entries covering topics of coming of age, identity and love in a world dominated by social media. A self-taught producer, Luna shapes powerful melodies and delicate vocals with production that takes inspiration from EDM behemoths Kaskade, Da Hool and Gigi D’Agostino: “Growing up, I used to buy these compilation CDs called BRAVO, so I would end up listening to these huge dance and trance hits when I was really young". The EP will also feature “IDONTOU” (pronounced ‘I Don’t Owe You’) which sees Luna recount a dark period in the Dutch music industry; highlighting cases of sexual assault but with a focus placed on reclaiming her own body, and the bodies of her contemporaries. Across the project, raw, emotive lyrics tell Luna’s personal stories, while a backdrop of dancefloor-inducing beats transport you to a Berlin night out; all making Luna Morgenstern one of the most exciting and innovative artists leading the European charge. Luna Morgenstern's new single "Dance Dance (Don't Go)" is out now via Nine And A Half.
The EP's release follows on 9th June 2023. |
