"From waves of ukulele and enchanting falsetto to an ever-expanding, psych-inflected soundscape, recording artist Nick Leng’s 'Easy' feels both intimate and infinite."
Cool Hunting

"'Bobby' explodes with optimistic electronic that’s just as chaotic and cheerful as Bobby himself."
PAPER Magazine

"After the potent swaggering grooves of his last two singles, Nick Leng has pivoted to new sounds and textures with his latest efforts. His new singles reflect an artist in flux, growing in exciting new directions."
Under the Radar

"While 'My Mind…' might be a warm embrace of oneself, flaws and all, 'Morning / Midnight' shines like a streetlight in the late hours. It’s cool. It slinks. It saunters. It’s the hum of confidence, an intoxicated grin. It’s the all-nighter with friends, of walking towards your front door just as the sun is coming up."
Hollywood Life

"Exemplary of how Leng has smoothed together his clashing sensibilities [...] The washed out, driving piano hints at his classical leanings with sustained synths readying for the elements to come."
Stereogum

"'Lemons' whirrs into life, the sonic equivalent of having your hair float around in the wind on a warm summer’s day. And 'Music To Clean Your House To' thumps the senses in a brisk staccato."
Wonderland

"The musical mind of Nick Leng resides in a different dimension than most. Though still an earthly inhabitant, the classically-trained pianist-turned producer, songwriter, artist, hears the properties of sound differently than most. A quick listen through the young creative's discography and his flair for manifesting otherworldly sonic textures and transportive musical experiences become indisputably clear."
Ones To Watch

"Echo-laden, polyphonic, laid-back songs that sound more like a microdose than a full-blown freak-out"
The FADER

"A hypnotic dance around bonded lies, the rise and fall and other idiosyncracies of love."
American Songwriter

"The visuals, which veer between dreamy and nightmarish, don't just bring his dramatic, maximalist indie sound to life, they hint at an ambitious album with a scaled-up artistic vision."
COMPLEX

"Leng's attention to poetic lyricism combined with his memorable hooks and gorgeous production makes for an instantly cool sound."
EARMILK

"Punchy, sleek, and buzzing with energy, Nick Leng has once again created an effortlessly cool vintage soundscape."
Flaunt

"'Fine Little Rhythm' doesn't waste any time, tastefully introducing a whimsical melody and groovy bassline from the song's onset."
Ones To Watch

"A song that comes straight from the heart, 'One More Time' is a urge towards self-compassion."
Clash

"With Nick Leng’s soft and vulnerable vocals, every stanza that slips off of his lips reels you into the sorrow and necessary act of moving on as if you were the only watcher in his world."
NOTION

"The groovy mix of genres, instantly catchy hook, and playful delivery from Leng all combine for an undeniable allure."
Under The Radar

"A sonorous anthem of minimalist pop giddiness"
Grimy Goods

"'LEMONS' is an emotive and transcendent piece of artistic expression. Mixing a traditional songwriter ethos with a production style that feels reminiscent of Phil Spector’s 'Wall of Sound' — with innovative flourishes in the style of psychedelic pop artists like Tame Impala — Leng has crafted a sound that is evocative of many genres, but not firmly planted in any."
American Songwriter

"Bringing elements from across genres, Nick Leng’s artfully composed 'Music To Clean The House To' is a lo-fi indie dreamscape worth escaping into."
Gig Goer

"An artist in every sense of the word, Nick Leng weaves rich sonic soundscapes capable of moving you physically and emotionally."

South African alt-R&B singer-songwriter Nick Leng is celebrating the recent release of his long-awaited sophomore LP, Spirals (out now via SOTA Records), with a brief Spring 2023 tour, including stops across North America. The tour kicks off next week at Manhattan's Mercury Lounge (Thursday, February 2), and concludes at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco (Saturday, February 11).

Introduced with singles such as "Morning/Midnight," "My Mind is a Mess in the Morning," "Bobby," "Spirals," and "Easy," Leng's newest full-length project, Spirals, s an exploration in dynamics, exhibiting sounds ranging from the orchestral and raw to the jarring and brilliantly colorful.

“I feel much more in tune with myself,” says Leng of his new project. “In the past, I’ve battled this insecurity making music.” Classically trained as a child, he’s metamorphosed into free-spirited musician who sees opportunities, not boundaries. But he’s also a natural-born perfectionist, which comes with some trappings. “I was stressed and had anxiety. But with Spirals, I reconnected with joy.” His listeners are beneficiaries of this, an artful journey entrenched in the many dualities in life.

He continued, “I started using a lot more analog gear. Working outside the box, experimenting with recording things in interesting ways. Pedals and such. I was asking the question of, ‘Who am I really doing this for?’ So, there’s a lot more humanity in this record. I was physically touching the elements. I wanted to feel this organic texture. All this pull and release…This is me. That’s who I am. And there are so many different colors in me.”

Listen to Spirals, out now via all DSPs.
