Serving as a cultural arbiter and community advocate within the local arts scene for three decades while promoting thousands of concerts and creating unique festival properties across Northern California, Noise Pop looks forward to celebrating the 30th anniversary of the team’s flagship festival brand - Noise Pop Festival - in just a few short weeks.

Over the course of a full week this coming February, Noise Pop Festival will once again transform the entire San Francisco Bay Area each night into sprawling festival grounds with music concerts, art shows, film screenings, happy hours, secret after-hour parties, and more taking place all across the city. Participating venues next February will once again include a number of historic concert halls and landmark venues like Great American Music Hall, Bottom of the Hill, The Chapel, Rickshaw Stop, The Regency Ballroom, August Hall, The New Parish, The Ivy Room, Public Works, and 1015 Folsom, among others.

The 2023 music lineup will offer fans a meticulously curated selection of iconic indie-rock darlings, boundary-defying up-and-coming acts, rare reunion shows, anniversary album plays, and Bay Area debuts from international performers, along with more than 100 local performers from across the San Francisco Bay Area.

Beyond music and film, the long-running Bay Area comedy showcase "The #HellaFunny Comedy Night” makes its Noise Pop Festival debut, although other non-music and alternative programming events including festival happy hours, after-parties, and more will be announced soon.

Weekend badges are on sale now, along with tickets to each individual concert and film screening via www.noisepopfest.com. All badges grant access to all general admission (non-reserved seating) music concerts, happy hours, after-hours, and film screening events throughout the weeklong festival, although fans are encouraged to act fast as limited quantities remain.

This year's festival's artwork was designed by none other than Shepard Fairey, considered one of today’s most accomplished and sought-after contemporary artists. Learn more about his incredible artwork by visiting his company Obey Giant at www.obeygiant.com.

Pixies Add Second North American Leg to Its 2022-23 World Tour

PIXIES ADD SECOND NORTH AMERICAN LEG

TO THE BAND'S 2022 - 2023 WORLD TOUR

Franz Ferdinand and Bully Will be Special Guests

on all Pixies' Leg Two Headline Dates

The Tour Includes a Special Performance at Bonnaroo Music Festival

LOS ANGELES, CA - (Tuesday, January 31, 2023) — Today, alt-rock icons Pixies announce the addition of Leg Two for its 2023 North American concert tour. With many dates on Leg One already sold out, Leg Two launches on June 8 and will see the band headlining in venues from Boston to Ohio to Texas, as well as making a special appearance at Bonnaroo on June 18. Also announced, the Scottish rock band Franz Ferdinand, and American indie rockers Bully will be Special Guests on all Pixies' Leg Two headline dates. Confirmed shows for Legs One and Two are below; tickets for Leg Two go on sale Friday, February 3 at https://pixies.ffm.to/live.OPR; remaining tickets for Leg One dates are currently on sale at https://pixies.ffm.to/live.OPR

All North American dates are in support of Pixies’ latest album, Doggerel (BMG), and are part of the band's 2022-2023 World Tour that launched last Spring and has seen the band playing to sold-out headline shows throughout the UK, Europe, South America, Japan, New Zealand and Australia.

As Pixies rehearse 90-100 songs before every tour, there are no predetermined set lists for any of the concerts, the band will play what they want when they want, and each “next” song is determined just before its first note is played. Consequently, every Pixies show is different.

In his review of Pixies’ Edinburgh show last August, David Pollock from The Scotsman wrote, "Grimy, relentless and effortlessly tuneful, this was some show from the Pixies, packing no fewer than 37 songs into a two-hour set. This was Maximum Pixies… a 'Now That's What I Call a Pixies set,' which condensed more than 35 years of history into one bullet-sized dose.” And from NME’s Sam Moore at Spain’s Mad Cool Festival, "Things you expect to see at your average Pixies gig: hit after hit after hit. ‘Gouge Away’? Check. ‘Wave Of Mutilation’? Of course! ‘Caribou’? Naturally. No banter – just bangers. — You want more? Don’t worry: Black Francis and Co. have got you, with ‘Hey’, ‘Tame’, ‘Monkey Gone To Heaven’ and ‘Vamos.’” Chris Schulz with the New Zealand Herald wrote, “Pixies’ Sydney Opera House show is a rambunctious, confrontational blast from the past. ‘Bone Machine,’ ‘Debaser,’ ‘Gouge Away,’ ‘Here Comes Your Man,’ and ‘Where Is My Mind?’ All get wickedly delicious outings, bringing the crowd to their feet and dancing and singing along in unison. No opening act, just two hours and 31 songs of pure Pixies, who proved they’re still as weird and wonderfully bonkers as their fans. That standing ovation lasted for minutes - and they deserved every second of it.”

Confirmed dates for Pixies’ North American tour are as follows:

6 Golden State Theatre, Monterey, CA

“Twenty-five years into its career, the band brings its incisive, anguished writing to a particularly 2022 brand of existential angst on its 10th album, ‘Asphalt Meadows’… an expansive album…” – THE NEW YORK TIMES

“If you haven’t heard yet, Death Cab for Cutie is back back… [their] best album in over a decade...” – VULTURE

8x GRAMMY® Award-nominated rock band Death Cab for Cutie has announced Asphalt Meadows (Acoustic), a new, stripped-down take on their critically acclaimed 10th studio album ‘Asphalt Meadows,’ originally released this past September via Atlantic Records. Co-produced by Andy Park (Pedro the Lion, Joseph, Noah Gunderson) and Death Cab for Cutie, the 12-track acoustic LP is due out March 10th (pre-save here).

Alongside the announcement, the band has released the first pair of tracks off the forthcoming album: a rework of standout album track “Pepper” as well as a moving cover of “The Plan” (listen here) – released in tribute to the late Mimi Parker, their close friend and drummer for the iconic band Low.

Of the cover, lead vocalist and guitarist Ben Gibbard shares:

“I first saw Low in 1994 opening for Sunny Day Real Estate at the OK Hotel in Seattle. Since then, they’ve been one of the most influential and important bands of my life. It was the fulfillment of my teenage self’s indie rock dream when our bands became friends while on tour together in 2012.

We were incredibly saddened by Mimi’s passing this past November. She was an incredible artist and an even better human being.

We believe the best way to remember the musicians we lose is to play their songs. ‘The Plan’ has always been one of our favorite Low songs and is presented here in tribute to Mimi.”

Earlier this month, the five-piece shared the stunning lyric video for the original studio version of “Pepper” (watch here), directed by frequent visual collaborator Juliet Bryant (Justin Vernon, Japanese Breakfast, Laura Jane Grace).

Upon debuting at radio earlier this month, the track became the most added song at both the Alternative and Triple A formats. Since then, it has quickly ascended to #13 at Triple A and #21 at Alternative radio and continues to rise.

In addition to the acoustic album, Gibbard also recently wrote and recorded the original theme song for Apple TV+’s newest comedy series, ‘Shrinking,’ which premiered last Friday. Performed by Gibbard and co-written with award-winning composer Tom Howe, “Frightening Fishes (Main Title Theme)” (listen here) will score each episode’s opening credits. ‘Shrinking’ stars Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, and was created by Bill Lawrence (Ted LassoScrubs).

Death Cab for Cutie is currently in the midst of the second leg of their Asphalt Meadows headline tour, with a Jan/Feb run of US dates culminating in a sold-out show at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium on Valentine’s Day.

On March 5th, the tour’s UK/EU run will begin in Copenhagen and include stops in BerlinAmsterdamDublin, and London, among many other cities. The tour’s third North American leg will commence May 31st in Indianapolis.

The band will continue to spend much of 2023 on the road, traversing the US this fall on their highly-anticipated co-headline tour with The Postal Service, celebrating the 20th anniversaries of each band’s seminal 2003 record – Transatlanticism and Give Up, respectively [full routing for all upcoming dates enclosed below].

Having been named one of GQ’s “12 Pop Culture Releases” the publication is “Most Looking Forward to in 2023” and of the “23 concerts and albums” the Los Angeles Times is “most excited for,” the tour is now almost entirely sold-out. Numerous shows were added to meet popular demand, including a second sold-out night at New York’s Madison Square Garden and two additional nights at LA’s Hollywood Bowl.
