New Zealand indie alt-pop four-piece, Yumi Zouma, have shared their latest music video for the track “If I Had The Heart For Chasing,” which appears on their new album Present Tense – now available via Polyvinyl Record Co. and [PIAS] Australia.

The video is a visually striking love letter to life on the road, and the bond that exists between the members of the band. A living, breathing, scrapbook of memories, chronicling the past year of Present Tense-era adventures. Speaking of the new video, Yumi Zouma shares that it was Cut from a mixture of footage from our March European Tour shot by Josh and 35mm pics shot by everyone! It was the first time we had been together since 2020 and it really rocked. Enjoy and thank you if you were at one of the shows and if not we will see you at one of the next ones <3.”

The beautiful self-produced video for “If I Had The Heart For Chasing” follows a video trilogy directed by Alex Ross Perry (Her SmellListen Up Philip) – a visually stunning three-part narrative set to the frolicking "In The Eyes Of Our Love," the ever so bittersweet "Where The Light Used To Lay," and their four-on-the-floor Present Tense album closer, “Astral Projection.”

The band will be returning to the road this week, starting with this year's Snow Machine festival, followed by dates across Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.

Originally formed in New Zealand, the members of Yumi Zouma are a creative force who defy the odds of distance, having lived in different corners of the globe, all while crafting timelessly evocative songs of the human condition and triumphs of the heart. On Present Tense, the band's new material finds them sticking to their convictions (whether in the face of climate change or a failing relationship) and learning to live in the ambiguity of uncertain times with love and a hint of escapism.

Praise for Present Tense:

“It’s the best thing they’ve ever released.”

Stereogum

"They build a sense of tension that almost escapes notice until a wave of overdriven guitars comes washing through the last quarter of ['Razorblade'] like it’s breaking through a dam."

Paste

"Pre-pandemic penned lyrics adopting a fresh prescience, producing perhaps the most emotional variety seen under the Yumi Zouma banner so far."

The Line of Best Fit

"[Present Tense] embraces the spatial, emotional and musical voids between each instrument, posing the question: 'With everything it has thrown at us, where will life take us next?'"

CLASH

“A whirlwind of emotions from start to finish”
