Today, Berlin based composer and experimental sound artist Yair Elazar Glotman announces his upcoming album Speculative Memories due out October 27th via SA Recordings. The release of this album comes alongside a Spitfire Audio sample library

The announcement comes with the release of new single 'A Child'. The new single follows the theme of the album and is an introspective dive into memory that stems from specific moments in Yair’s childhood but explores the abstract feelings attached to these moments. These memories are just starting points for the music but the themes are open to interpretation. ‘A Child’ stems from a memory of Yair as a child and is related to the album’s artwork with the inner sleeve being a specific image of himself as child with the album artwork being scratches from this image.

Accompanying video was created by close friend and collaborator of Yair's, Laslo Antal. Laslo comments on the video:  "After many years of friendship and collaboration in the fields of music and visual arts, I was honored to work on the videos for Yair’s new album. From the first time I listened to it, I felt that this album is really special and I wanted to create something original and new for the videos. After conversations about the album and what it means to Yair, I developed the idea to work with a combination of abstraction and figurative expression that supports his music, and hints at the underlying topics connected to the concept of the album. I created original paintings and drawings that I then used to make the animation for these videos. Both Yair and I have an affinity with old VHS and Super-8 film, and having this effect in the videos really strengthens his timeless and emotionally charged music."
Having trained in classical double bass and electroacoustic composition, Glotman uses these traditions in combination with improvisation, with particular focus on analogue processes, to create textural and spatial works.  In recent years, he has been known for his notable pieces in film and media composition, working closely with influentential late composer Jóhann Jóhannsonn on acclaimed titles such Mandy (2018) and Last and First Men (2019), which he co-composed and produced the score.  Apart from his work in film and media,  Glotman is a celebrated recording artist in his own right, venturing into dark corners of ambient drone and post-classical with acclaimed albums such as his 2020 album Emanate via Fat Cat’s imprint 13070, 2017 album Negative Chambers with close collaborator Mats Erlandsson released via Miasmah Recordings, and his solo album Études released in 2015 via Subtext, receiving him high acclaim from the likes of Pitchfork, The Wire, The Guardian, BBC 6 Music, The Quietus, Uncut, Electronic Sound and more. Glotman now returns with his most personal and unique album yet.
