ROLLING BLACKOUTS COASTAL FEVER RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR “BLUE EYE LAKE” OFF OF ENDLESS ROOMS, OUT NOW ON SUB POP

ROLLING BLACKOUTS COASTAL FEVER RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR “BLUE EYE LAKE” OFF OF ENDLESS ROOMS, OUT NOW ON SUB POP

Earlier this year, Australia’s Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever released their new album, Endless Rooms, via Sub Pop. Today, they present a video for one of its tracks, “Blue Eye Lake,” which “demonstrates why new album Endless Rooms offers a strong mix of new ambitions and old fundamentals. The track expands outward with each passing second, reveling in its slightly out-of-focus harmonies and minor-chord riffs” (Billboard). Endless Rooms is a testament to the collaborative spirit and live power of the band, and the “Blue Eye Lake” video attests to this sentiment. It weaves together live footage of the band with clips of street scenes during their recent European tour. In addition to illustrating the power of the live shows, it also gives a glimpse of what to expect on their forthcoming North American tour. A full list can be found below and tickets for all dates are on sale now.

The Portable Infinite interviews: indie sleaze version

I was contacted a few years ago about a four part documentary based on the book MEET ME IN THE BATHROOM. It was all about the NYC scene twenty years ago. Since I had interviewed most of the bands involved for FREE WILLIAMSBURG, I was asked to dig up some old interviews. The documentary became a stand alone film. In the past year there has been a renewed interest in Indie Sleaze. I decided to share the actual interviews.

"Bauer’s latest single 'Miracles,' is an encapsulation of the themes of the record all at once, capturing dread, joy and everything in-between."
EARMILK

"'Miracles' begins with gentle strumming and his voice, only to expand with grand flourishes (including horns provided by the Westerlies) and heartfelt pain at the changes in life."
Beats Per Minute

"Contrasting with the looping, colorful psychedelia of last year’s 'One Pair of Blue Eyes' that had more in line with Animal Collective than The Walkmen, ['Skulls'] sounds well within the universe of his band, with the hazy keys of 'The Rat' pairing with animated percussion under Bauer’s vocals and distorted guitar riffing."
FLOOD

"The pounding 'Wild Light' kicks off the new record, building its increasingly relentless stomp across the track's four minutes, while Bauer finds himself more and more concerned with the world's chaos."
- All Music

"...ten new songs of rousing, dusty, sun-dappled rock."
- Brooklyn Vegan

"...a dusty, churning anthem, a song that sounds like it was lost to the years and then exhumed in ragged, sepia-toned grandeur."
- Stereogum

Today, Peter Matthew Bauer shares "Miracles," the latest single off his forthcoming LP, Flowers, due September 23 via Fortune Tellers Music. The track features a brass ensemble, The Westerlies, on the horn arrangement and it was produced and mixed by Bauer and Matt Barrick.

Speaking on his newest single, Peter wrote:

"'Miracles' is a big piece of this record and probably the most straightforward, folk style song I've ever written. It covers a lot of themes from the record all at once. It's both looking back at the strangeness of growing up, wandering an old railroad bridge with your friends and then jumping time to the present, wandering around downtown Los Angeles in the pandemic. For me, I guess it's expressing a lot of the fear and decay of the present time. I finished writing it in December 2021 on Christmas Day."

MAGGIE ROGERS’ NEW ALBUM, SURRENDER, IS OUT TODAY

MAGGIE ROGERS’ NEW ALBUM, SURRENDER, IS OUT TODAY

“‘SURRENDER’ [IS]…A HYPNOTICALLY DANCEABLE ODE TO ECSTATIC ABANDON”

– THE NEW YORK TIMES

WATCH ROGERS PERFORM “WANT WANT,” HER NEW SINGLE, ON “THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON” HERE

SURRENDER FOLLOWS 2019’S HEARD IT IN A PAST LIFE, WHICH EARNED ROGERS A BEST NEW ARTIST GRAMMY® NOMINATION

July 29, 2022 — (Hollywood, CA) — Today, Capitol Records released Maggie Rogers new album, Surrender – the follow-up to 2019’s Heard It in a Past Life, which entered Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart at No. 1, landed her a GRAMMY® nomination for Best New Artist and went on to amass over one billion combined global streams. Raw and revelatory, Surrender finds the acclaimed producer/songwriter/performer examining the most complex emotions with fierce, unflinching vulnerability and alchemizing that heightened feeling into her most joyful output yet. Download / stream Surrender HERE.

Earlier this week, Rogers returned to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and performed her new single, “Want Want.” View HERE. Praising the song’s “intensity and crunchy guitar tones,” The New York Times said, “this tale of long-sublimated desire…finally finds an explosive expression in its chorus: ‘And I want you.’” V Magazine said, “‘Want Want’ is a booming track, backed by a groovy drumline and Roger’s own powerful vocals.“ View the official video for “Want Want,” which Rogers shot in a NYC karaoke bar with director Warren FuHERE.

Hailing Rogers as a “pop music prodigy… an artist who’s in it for the long haul,” Rolling Stone said, “She’s someone who can command banjo-strummed roots music, streaming-friendly synth-pop, and anthemic arena rock.” In this feature, The New York Times praised Surrender as “a hypnotically danceable ode to ecstatic abandon, making leaps and navigating worry.” The Associated Press declares, “the new album only solidifies Rogers as one of the most interesting singer-songwriters out there…brash, confident, compelling and occasionally profane.”  Consequence observed, “Surrender is a wholly open and vulnerable turn from Maggie Rogers…her writing has gotten all the more sharp and incisive.” SPIN declared, “(Surrender is) a vibrant and provocative studio album…(Rogers) proved herself as an impassion performer…with songs designed to blow people away…”

The album’s first single, “That’s Where I Am,” was included on Former President Barack Obama’s 2022 Summer Playlist and “Best Songs of 2022 (So Far)” lists from Esquire, SPIN and Paste The video features cameos by David ByrneQuil Lemons and Hamilton Leithauser. Watch the clip for new track Horses which Rogers co-directed with Michael Scanlon HERE.

In the days leading up to the album’s release, Metrograph in New York City gave fans the opportunity to preview the album – and view three of the films that inspired it – with the “Surrender Film Club,” a three-night series of screening and listening sessions at the independent movie theatre. American Express® Card Members had early access to purchase tickets before the general public to last night’s “Maggie Rogers, The Surrender Release Show – Presented by American Express,” a celebratory concert at Webster Hall on the evening of Surrender’s debut.

After multiple sold-out headline tours and major festival performances in support of Heard It in a Past Life, Rogers retreated to the coast of Maine in early 2020 and completely cut herself off from the noise of the outside world. For months on end, she spent most of her time reading and resting and walking along the jagged cliffs, compelled by the fierce and unforgiving nature of the North Atlantic Ocean. Channeling the ocean’s unruly energy, she soon arrived at the controlled chaos and ecstatic physicality that would come to define Surrender. The album was co-produced by Kid Harpoon and Rogers and recorded in three distinct locations (her parents’ garage in Maine, Electric Lady Studios in New York City, Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios near Bath, England). Over the course of 12 unfettered yet exactingly crafted tracks, Rogers fully captures the frenetic intensity of the last two years of her life, bringing her bracing honesty to stories of anger and peace and self-salvation, transcendence through sex and freedom through letting go.
