GRACIE ABRAMS SHARES NEW SINGLE “BLOCK ME OUT”
ACCLAIMED SONGWRITER ON TOUR
NOW WITH OLIVIA RODRIGO
Santa Monica, California, April 8, 2022 — Today marks the premiere of “Block me out,” the latest single from acclaimed songwriter Gracie Abrams. Produced by The National’s Aaron Dessner the brutally honest yet exhilarating track arrives as Abrams continues her 14-date run as support for Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour Tour — see below for the full itinerary. “Block me out” is available now at all digital retailers. Watch the visual for “Block me out” HERE.
Co-written by Abrams and Dessner and recorded at the famed Long Pond Studio in New York, “Block me out” opens on a series of confessions that immediately prove the subtle power of her storytelling (“I’ll say whatever you want but I’ve become such a liar/I used to follow my gut but now I’m just getting higher”). As the guitar-driven and gauzy track unfolds, Abrams’s vocals take on a dazzling intensity, sometimes spiking her outpouring with moments of self-aware humor (“I thought of leaving tonight but I couldn’t drive this tired/Plus after all of this time I should be a pretty crier”). An intimate portrait of emotional desolation, “Block me out” ultimately expands on the strangely captivating self-reflection the 22-year-old songwriter first revealed on her 2019 breakthrough single “Mean It.”
The first new music from Abrams in 2022, “Block me out” follows her critically lauded project This Is What It Feels Like (a fall 2021 release that also drew praise from the likes of Taylor Swift). Now at work on her debut album for Interscope Records, Abrams recently wrapped up her sold-out This Is What It Feels Like tour — a 21-date headlining North American run that included two nights at El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles and stops at legendary venues like The Bowery Ballroom in New York City.

ABOUT GRACIE ABRAMS
Since making her debut with “Mean It” in October 2019, Gracie Abrams has emerged as one of the most compelling songwriters of her generation, earning the admiration of such likeminded artists as Lorde, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo. A consummate songwriter who names Joni Mitchell as her most formative influence, she penned her first song at the age of eight, then went on to amass a devoted following on the strength of her emotionally intimate lyrics and DIY sensibilities. As her profile rose, Abrams was named an artist to watch by tastemaking outlets like Pigeons & Planes, Fader, and i-D, in addition to being crowned one of seven breakout female musicians by Vogue UK. With the arrival of her debut project minor in summer 2020, she received glowing reviews from the likes of NME, who praised her “painfully honest tales of heartbreak draped in delicate melodies that carry much more intrigue than the usual run-of-the-mill singer-songwriter.” Executive-produced by Blake Slatkin — and also made with leading producers like Joel Little and benny blanco - the seven-song effort features her beloved singles “21,” “I miss you, I’m sorry,” and “Long Sleeves.” In 2021, Abrams returned with This Is What It Feels Like, a 12-track project that explores such complex emotional experiences as self-betrayal, insecurity, and failed attempts at connection. Soon after completing her sold-out North American headline tour in support of This Is What It Feels Like, she set to work on her debut album for Interscope Records.
