Peter Bjorn & John Cover "Songs of Love" (The Divine Comedy) for UTR's "Covers of Covers"
Peter Bjorn and John Cover "Songs of Love" (The Divine Comedy) for Under the Radar's 20th Anniversary Covers of Covers Compilation LP out March 4th via American Laundromat Records |
Peter Bjorn and John join Cassandra Jenkins, Black Belt Eagle Scout, Cults, Grandaddy, Sondre Lerche, Strand of Oaks, Alex Lahey, Hatchie, and more to help Under the Radar celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special Covers of Covers compilation due out March 4th via American Laundromat Records. For the double-CD/digital download the Swedish trio tackled The Divine Comedy's "Songs of Love." After trying out a few songs in the studio, Peter MorĂ©n of Peter Bjorn and John, noted that it is his love for a cult BBC TV show which led them to The Divine Comedy’s “Songs of Love.” |
Suddenly I realized The Divine Comedy/Neil Hannon wrote the theme tune for the Irish-English sitcom classic ‘Father Ted’, a perennial favorite of mine. This madcap mid-’90s series about three bonkers Catholic priests on a remote, fictitious island called Craggy Island, hit me hard when it ran late night on TV in Sweden. Apparently it's been banned in the United States and voted second best British comedy after Fawlty Towers, by some poll in 2019. On a tour of (you guessed it) Ireland I got the DVD box-set and pained the rest of the band with it on the bus TV (though our British crew got it). Long story, but I thought we might as well have a go at it. Bingo! A few jammed out, slightly psychedelic PB&J-angled takes with some added vibraphone and tape-echo and there you have it. We then thought… well the song DOES have a lyric, looked it up, and sang it. A good set of words too… nothing soever to do with Mrs. Doyle or ecumenical matters. Thanks Neil for writing it, and thanks Under the Radar for the opportunity. Listen to Peter Bjorn and John's cover of "Songs of Love" via your preferred streaming service HERE & look for Covers of Covers on March 4 via American Laundromat Records. $1 from each double-CD or digital download will go to support Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and you can pre-order the album HERE and HERE. GRAMMY-WINNING BAND SET TO MAKE TRIUMPHANT RETURN WITH JEFF BHASKER-PRODUCED NEW SINGLE
“What, Me Worry?” marks first official single off forthcoming album due this June
Acclaimed rockers kick off 34-date tour alongside alt-J on Feb 25
(New York, NY – January 31, 2022) Multi-platinum, GRAMMY Award-winning alternative rock band Portugal The Man have announced their highly-anticipated return with the forthcoming single, “What, Me Worry?” set for release next Wednesday, February 9.
In announcing the new single, the band is launching a groundbreaking campaign to reward fans who pre-save the track with 1 $PTM of PTM Coin, the band's very own community-built social token (a type of cryptocurrency). To participate, create a free account on Rally, a platform where artists and their fan communities build shared digital economies powered by social tokens and digital goods and services.
PTM Coin provides fans with a number of exclusive perks and experiences, including access to concert pre-sale codes, events hosted by the band, and hundreds of live show recordings, B-sides, and demos housed within the PTM Archives, as well as potential shared value created by the PTM economy. Additional exclusive opportunities will become available for coin holders.
Alongside the debut of the coin last year, the band penned an op-ed for Rolling Stone detailing the motivations behind developing their own unique cryptocurrency. Read that here.
Produced by Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Harry Styles, BeyoncĂ©), “What, Me Worry?” is the first single from the band’s long-awaited 9th studio album, due out this June.
The new single arrives as the Alaska-born, Portland-based rockers prepare for their upcoming 34-date tour alongside alt-J, set to kick off Feb 25 with support from Sir Chloe and Cherry Glazerr (full tour itinerary below). The tour includes a stop at LA’s Crypto.com Arena on March 27 as well as a show at New York’s legendary Madison Square Garden on April 11.
All the above arrives following the stellar success of the band’s 2017 RIAA gold-certified album, Woodstock, highlighted by the inescapable, 6x platinum-certified hit, “Feel It Still,” which earned the band their first GRAMMY Award for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” and dominated airwaves – hitting #1 at Top 40 radio and breaking the Alternative radio record for longest running number #1 of all time at 20 weeks. Woodstock also delivered the Gold-certified single “Live In The Moment,” which also hit #1 at Alternative radio and broke the record for most plays in a single week at the format.

Brooklyn's Van Chamberlain shares new "A.G.T." video/single and announces their debut LP; 'In the Sun' is due 3/28 via Very Jazzed
Today Brooklyn's brotherly indie-duo, Van Chamberlain, are sharing the lead single/video from their forthcoming debut record. Watch the video for "A.G.T." here. Van Chamberlain's In the Sun is due March 28th via Very Jazzed.
Bio:
Van Chamberlain is a Brooklyn-based indie rock band. Having grown up making music together on a shared wavelength, brothers Van & Jacob began playing under the name Van Chamberlain in 2019. They make music that combines dream pop and jangle, with a slight 90’s alternative influence showing through. They’ve each played and toured the world in bands including Phantom Buffalo (Rough Trade Records, Time Lag) and Eternal Drag (members of The Dodos). In 2019 they found themselves reunited in Brooklyn, and immediately began crafting their new record, In the Sun.
The band released their first studio-demo "LY" in 2020, right on the cusp of the global pandemic. Having to cancel their live debut, they instead turned to the recording studio. Their first LP, In the Sun, was finished in 2021. By the end of that year Van Chamberlain signed with Very Jazzed with a release scheduled for March 2022.
In the Sun is an album about layers, both sonically and philosophically. Driven by textures of guitars, lush reverb, and grounded by infectious percussion, In the Sun offers sonic choices that feel new and undiscovered every time you put the record on. While Van’s laid-back vocal style offers the disposition of a sunny day with little to do, his lyrics draw from personal experiences of loss and subsequent growth. Their layered sonic approach reaffirms the band’s philosophical message: that what’s past is prologue, and the future holds promise, but neither will count unless you make peace with the present.
