"The duo excels at building a subtle tension over the course of each instrumental track, resulting in what sounds like a hushed soundtrack to a film’s understated climax."
FLOOD

"Gently pulsating percussion, analog synths, and ambient drones envelop you, pulling you gently into the track’s expansive push and pull dynamic. The result is at once intimate and cinematic, retaining the free-form experimental elements of their influences while adding their own rich textures."
Under the Radar

"In 'Kontrail,' the two craft a sonic landscape that is uplifting, invigorating, and quite captivating."
Hollywood Life

"'Strom' incorporates amorphous drones throughout, sprinkled with analogue synths to emulate a composition of spontaneity and surprise."
Wonderland.

"While the pair point to 1970’s German experimental music such as Cluster, and the pioneering minimalist composer Moondog as touchstones; fans of Brian Eno’s most ambient works will find The Furniture’s musical offerings cinematically enthralling."
Glide

"A meditative 5-minute piece that straddles the line between ambient and post-rock"
Backseat Mafia

"Dark, moody instrumental works, heavy on cinematic atmosphere"
Brooklyn Vegan

"It’s music borne of a hard won, deeply felt understanding of each other. It’s together that their sound becomes something truly special, after all, with Matthew Pierce’s synth-work and textures – which would likely venture into pure ambient on their own – perfectly complemented by Matthew Kuhl’s assured, propulsive drumming. It’s the perfect combination."

Peter Bjorn and John join Cassandra JenkinsBlack Belt Eagle ScoutCultsGrandaddySondre LercheStrand of OaksAlex LaheyHatchie, and more to help Under the Radar celebrate their 20th anniversary with a special Covers of Covers compilation due out March 4th via American Laundromat Records. For the double-CD/digital download the Swedish trio tackled The Divine Comedy's "Songs of Love." After trying out a few songs in the studio, Peter MorĂ©n of Peter Bjorn and John, noted that it is his love for a cult BBC TV show which led them to The Divine Comedy’s “Songs of Love.”

Suddenly I realized The Divine Comedy/Neil Hannon wrote the theme tune for the Irish-English sitcom classic ‘Father Ted’, a perennial favorite of mine. This madcap mid-’90s series about three bonkers Catholic priests on a remote, fictitious island called Craggy Island, hit me hard when it ran late night on TV in Sweden. Apparently it's been banned in the United States and voted second best British comedy after Fawlty Towers, by some poll in 2019. On a tour of (you guessed it) Ireland I got the DVD box-set and pained the rest of the band with it on the bus TV (though our British crew got it).

Long story, but I thought we might as well have a go at it. Bingo! A few jammed out, slightly psychedelic PB&J-angled takes with some added vibraphone and tape-echo and there you have it. We then thought… well the song DOES have a lyric, looked it up, and sang it. A good set of words too… nothing soever to do with Mrs. Doyle or ecumenical matters. Thanks Neil for writing it, and thanks Under the Radar for the opportunity.

Listen to Peter Bjorn and John's cover of "Songs of Love" via your preferred streaming service HERE & look for Covers of Covers on March 4 via American Laundromat Records. $1 from each double-CD or digital download will go to support Sweet Relief Musicians Fund and you can pre-order the album HERE and HERE.

With their new album 'Mutual Dreaming' set for release Feb 11th, Norwegian artist Sea Change is sharing her new single and video "I Put My Hand Into A Fist" online now.

Speaking about the track, Sea Change said “This is one of my favourites from the album. It’s about going through a transformation, from feeling locked-in in this restricted space, where you are supposed to move, and live and think and be. And finally breaking free from others’ expectations."

And on the video, director Lisa Enes added “In conversation with Ellen, we touched upon subjects such as loneliness, isolation, tactility, the contemplative and the ceremonial. I wanted the music video to substantiate the artist’s introvert and dreamy universe, and to depict loneliness as the feeling of carrying a heavy persona. A persona that feels like a burden by day, but that comes to life on a dancefloor by night.”

Music sometimes takes place in a world that’s more emotional than rational, less something you think about and more something you feel. That’s the home turf of the new album from Sea Change – Mutual Dreaming. With inspiration from the world of club music, another dreamspace where reality seems to slip, these songs come from a place where shadows of memories and feelings dance in the listener’s sub-consciousness. With its subtle, infectious sense of rhythm, delivered through fractured, hallucinogenic electronica, the music here moves through your body like a pulse, for a record that manages to be both enigmatic and elusive, and at the same time totally compelling.

Sea Change is the project of Norway’s Ellen A. W. Sunde. From her debut album, 2015’s Breakage, to her music today, her sound has fluctuated and mutated – from airy, atmospheric pop to bubbling, shapeshifting electronica, but her creative vision hasn’t changed. With whatever style she’s working with, she’s on a mission to push and stretch it into new shapes, to explore the fringes of what the music can become. Across three records, it’s made for a musical vision that’s adventurous, hard to pin down, and even harder to predict. And on the latest of those albums, Mutual Dreaming, that’s more the case than ever before, as she follows her feelings in painting an intuitive, impressionistic world that wraps itself around the listener.

Produced by Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Harry Styles, BeyoncĂ©), “What, Me Worry?” is the first single from the band’s long-awaited 9th studio album, due out this June.

The new single arrives as the Alaska-born, Portland-based rockers prepare for their upcoming 34-date tour alongside alt-J, set to kick off Feb 25 with support from Sir Chloe and Cherry Glazerr (full tour itinerary below). Today Brooklyn's brotherly indie-duo, Van Chamberlain, are sharing the lead single/video from their forthcoming debut record. Watch the video for "A.G.T." here. Van Chamberlain's In the Sun is due March 28th via Very Jazzed.

Bio:
Van Chamberlain is a Brooklyn-based indie rock band. Having grown up making music together on a shared wavelength, brothers Van & Jacob began playing under the name Van Chamberlain in 2019. They make music that combines dream pop and jangle, with a slight 90’s alternative influence showing through. They’ve each played and toured the world in bands including Phantom Buffalo (Rough Trade Records, Time Lag) and Eternal Drag (members of The Dodos). In 2019 they found themselves reunited in Brooklyn, and immediately began crafting their new record, In the Sun

The band released their first studio-demo "LY" in 2020, right on the cusp of the global pandemic. Having to cancel their live debut, they instead turned to the recording studio. Their first LP, In the Sun, was finished in 2021. By the end of that year Van Chamberlain signed with Very Jazzed with a release scheduled for March 2022.

In the Sun is an album about layers, both sonically and philosophically. Driven by textures of guitars, lush reverb, and grounded by infectious percussion, In the Sun offers sonic choices that feel new and undiscovered every time you put the record on. While Van’s laid-back vocal style offers the disposition of a sunny day with little to do, his lyrics draw from personal experiences of loss and subsequent growth. Their layered sonic approach reaffirms the band’s philosophical message: that what’s past is prologue, and the future holds promise, but neither will count unless you make peace with the present.
