Lifelong friends and musical collaborators Mark Yoshizumi and Elia Einhorn (Pitchfork Radio Hour, Sonos Radio Hour, The Talkhouse) have launched the first episode of Music Is Everything!, their bi-weekly hour-long love letter to music, the people who make it, and the culture that surrounds it, on Sonos Sound System. Produced under the pair’s 3dB banner, the program is made by and for music obsessives. “We have no idea how to do anything else with our lives except to listen to music, talk about music, write it, produce it, mix it, over-analyze it, critique it, worship it,” they admit. If that description strikes a chord, then Music Is Everything! is for you.

The show features a range of recurring segments, including “What’s The News?”, with Einhorn sharing his take on music-related current events; “International Affair”, with producer Reese Higgins checking in from their global quest to connect with key people in regional music scenes; “PSAs” with musician Adam Schatz (Landlady, Sylvan Esso) showcasing his wit through imaginary, music-specific advertisements; Chicago-based singer/songwriter, poet, and educator Jamila Woods showcasing emerging poets; “Life Hacks” with “America’s favorite Neanderthal” Thor Harris (Shearwater, Swans); and “Ratchet Wisdom”, featuring ruminations on the plight and joy of being human from musician, actor, and painter Shamir. At the heart of each episode of MIE! Is a beautifully recorded in-studio session from, and interview with, one of 3dB’s favorite artists.

Jamila Woods gives us a preview of her curation for MIE!, “As Audre Lorde said, poetry gives name to the nameless. It is a way of giving language to your experience in a way that, for me, felt totally freeing. For this segment, dear listener, I encourage you to forget what you think you know about poetry, what it is supposed to sound like or what it's supposed to be about, or the idea that you're supposed to do the work of analyzing, or trying to ‘get’ it. Instead, I invite you to allow yourself to just listen and notice how you feel and what stands out to you.”

Episode One, debuting Thursday, November 18th, features an interview with Chicago vocalist, guitarist, and composer Circuit des Yeux accompanied by a four-song, in-studio performance of "Vanishing", "Dogma”,"Sculpting the Exodus" and "Stranger”. Fellow Chicagoan, the singer-songwriter, poet and educator Jamila Woods presents a poetry reading by Kara Jackson, author of Bloodstone Cowboy, who was named the 2019-2020 National Youth Poet Laureate as well as the 2018 Youth Poet Laureate of Chicago. Other show highlights include Thor Harris’ take on Abba in 2021, a brief surprise appearance from Sir Tom Jones, Reese Higgins bringing us to Lisbon to survey the music scene, and a mockumercial from Adam Shatz offering recovery for hopelessly addicted modular synth collectors.

Music Is Everything! Is the latest show from the Sonos Sound System family, the brand’s ad-free signature station on Sonos Radio, which invites culture seekers to explore the latest releases from emerging artists, forgotten hits, deep cuts from the archives, stories behind the music, exclusive interviews and industry news. Sonos Radio is available free for all Sonos customers globally, pre-loaded in the Sonos app. Archived episodes can also be heard at mixcloud.com/sonos
