Nick Lowe , bringing them together, for the first time in history, in a documentary about the legendary album.
"We are delighted to have worked with Elvis Costello to develop six visual content shorts that tell the story of how and why This Year's Model became a Spanish Model ," said José Tillán. "This is such a unique and completely new, which made the storytelling process challenging and adventurous. It's amazing how the DNA of the original album, both the music and the themes, totally resonates with the artists and the Spanish-speaking audience. "
"I love the humor and the heart that Jose has captured in this movie," said Elvis Costello. “It has been great to hear all these voices and to see the faces of our new friends. The whole gang is here. One last time with feeling. "
Conceived by Elvis Costello and his longtime collaborator, 18 GRAMMY® and Latin GRAMMY® award-winning producer Sebastian Krys, Spanish Model is a daring record, the first of its kind. The songs on This Year's Model have been expertly translated and adapted into Spanish to preserve their meaning, energy, attitude and wit. The concept represents what can be a novelty: an artist who replaces his voice with newly recorded performances of other artists singing in another language, backed by original music.
When Costello and Krys began to think of artists who would be a good fit, they discovered that This Year's Model was an important record for many artists in the Pan-Latin world, but its true nature had never been fully appreciated due to the language barrier. They recruited many Costello fans, some that Krys and Costello felt would fit the song perfectly, and they all have stellar careers and were excited to participate and bring their own styles to the immediacy and intensity of the original songs, helping to create a completely new listening experience.
Spanish Model exudes the same kind of energy and spirit as the original but with a Latin twist. Featuring 19 featured artists representing 10 countries and territories throughout the Spanish-speaking world, including: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain, Uruguay, plus several from the United States. The album is truly a global collaboration affair. Costello's punchy guitars collide with the carnival tones of his bandmates Steve Snow and the urgent, propelling rhythms of bassist Bruce Thomas and drummer Pete Thomas, while The Attractions virtually backs up a host of Latin music legends,
