Sign To Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records +
Announce Scatter the Rats Due Out May 3
First New Full-Length Album Since 1999

Fiery 1st Single “Burn Baby” Video Out Now!

Playing The Bash Music & Craft Beer Festival National Tour

Legendary American grunge pioneers, L7, have signed with Joan Jett’s Blackheart Records for their first album in 20 years, Scatter the Rats, due out May 3, 2019. "I’ve been friends with L7 for years and am very excited and proud to have the opportunity to release their new album on Blackheart!" shares Jett. “When we decided to make a new record, Joan was there for us as the good friend she has always been. So great to stomp into Blackheart Records with her at the helm. We’re very excited to work with Joan and the entire Blackheart family. Just imagine the family dinners!” says Donita Sparks.

Opening the album with a galvanizing reflection on letting go of old grudges for the sake of fighting a greater evil, the band has unleashed a blazing new video by Blue Hats Creative for lead single “Burn Baby” directed by Courtney and Hillary Andujar. The new track sees the band tight as ever, delivering their ferocious energy through a wall of rage. “Burn Baby” will be available on a special Record Store Day 7” with b-side “Fighting The Crave”.

Working with producers Norm Block (Jenny Lee, Paper Cranes, Plexi) and Nick Launay (Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs), L7 recorded Scatter the Rats at Happy Ending Studios, and Sunset Sound in L.A., instilling each track with a kinetic vitality. The album’s title track came to life in a moment of pure spontaneity. “There were a couple of rats in the basement of the studio, where all the amplifiers were, and at one point Norm said to us, ‘Let’s get rockin’, we can scatter the rats,’” Sparks recalls.
Scatter the Rats embodies everything that made the band so iconic in the first place—the distortion-heavy riffs and headbanging rhythms, sludgy grooves and indelible melodies. Incendiary, cathartic, and down right fun it touches on issues of codependency, lonely hearts, internal conflict and setting aside old grievances for the greater good. Harnessing their revolutionary spirit and boundless energy, L7 achieve a direct transmission of raw feeling, often spiked with biting commentary on the chaos of the world today.

Having toured the world, delivering their take-no-prisoners spirit to massive sold-out crowds in recent years, L7 looks forward to introducing a certain elusive element back into the musical landscape. L7 will be joining The Bash Music & Craft Beer Festival tour across the US with Rancid and more with additional US dates to be announced soon. “I think it’s good for people to enjoy a meat-and-potatoes rock band for a change,” says Sparks. “We’re not rocket science, we’re rock & roll. And there’s value to that, and we do it pretty well. So if you want to rock, come on back to L7.”

Says Devendra: “I’ve always loved demos, often much more than the final version. In fact, my favorite John Lennon song is a demo; its called “Friend of Dorothy”. It’s a masterpiece. This is an album of demos. You know who doesn’t like demos? The people who make them - that’s who! Wait , wait…. That’s not true. They do like their demos but they are definitely not gonna let anyone hear them anytime soon. They have big big plans for these songs. Fortunately , I don’t mind being extremely annoying when it comes to bothering/begging my friends to let me hear their demos. Unfortunately , I am not a very good dentist. This album could have been called “Pulling Teeth” if ya know what I’m sayin’….

Now, if i may take a moment to say what kind , generous , and patient the sweet people on this comp are. Thank you forever for enduring all of my emails, phone calls , texts, letters, and astral badgering! I am extremely grateful to you - I love you. I would also like to thank my ol’ pal Cyril Yeterian. He also loves demos and happens to runs the label that put out the record you are now holding, so that worked out nicely. I am also endlessly indebted to Dustin Reid for introducing me to Tom Lee, who allowed us a peek into the priceless vault of Arthur Russell’s demos & release this never before heard work from the great master!
Please enjoy this anthology of intimacy before everyone on it freaks out and doesn’t want you to hear their demos (on the bright side , at least 5 of them will show up at your house and pay you the big bucks to get this back!) This comp has taken years and years to put together. Wow. Has it been that long? Yep.

Love Above All  - Devendra Banhart.”

With its inaugural pop-up event, KIND MUSIC FESTIVAL brought over 5,000 fans of music, cannabis and overall positivity this past Saturday, February 23 to Desert Hot Springs, CA at the future site of Tyson Ranch Resort--a 420-acre entertainment complex, luxury glamping resort and cannabis research & design facility created and owned by Mike Tyson.

"I could not have been happier to see the range in demographics all enjoying the festival peacefully," adds Tyson Ranch President and co-founder Mike Tyson. "This is exactly what the Kind Festival is all about; focusing on what brings us together rather than what divides us."

Tyson Ranch CEO and co-founder Rob Hickman remarked, "The success of Kind Festival was Tyson Ranch's way of introducing our company to the Desert Hot/Palm Springs community, which will soon be home to a resort and cannabis educational facility that will bring lots of jobs and commerce to the area.  We look forward to engaging local businesses as Tyson Ranch expands in the desert."

Featuring strong performances by MIGUEL, FERG, STARCRAWLER, REESE LAFLARE, YONEE, D.I.E., INASX and ALL MY FRIENDS HATE ME, along with an empowering inspirational speech on global consciousness from motivational speaker/author IDIL AHMED, the event was the first-ever all ages music festival that embraced California's updated cannabis regulations while also offering alcoholic consumption to those 21+.

While there were no sales of cannabis products at the festival, in accordance with the 2019 laws, several cannabis cultivation, education and media vendors were on-site to raise awareness including Sensii, CBD Hydrate and Two Roots Brewing Co. Attendees were able to relax in the "Chillville" area which included blow-up chairs and bean bags or get a birds-eye view of festival's stunning background sights including the San Jacinto mountains on a Ferris Wheel ride. There was also hourly "medicated meditation," yoga and sound bath events and a breakdancing crew performing on the festival grounds.

Diane Coffee announces new album "Internet Arms," out April 19 on Polyvinyl Records

DIANE COFFEE

Announces New Album Internet Arms

Out April 19 on Polyvinyl Record Co.

On Tour This Spring

"Conjuring both Mick Jagger and David Bowie... Diane Coffee gives the kind of live performances you talk about for weeks after seeing." - NPR
"[An] all-encompassing live force." - BILLBOARD
"Psychedelic funk with a lot of energy and soul." - STEREOGUM
"Fleming's unpredictable nature lends some of its erratic qualities to create provocative music. The result is a deep exploration of sonic pleasure." - INTERVIEW

Diane Coffee, the eclectic pop project of Shaun Fleming, is returning with his third record Internet Arms, due out April 19 on Polyvinyl Record Co. In the years since releasing his last album Everybody's A Good Dog, Fleming has been touring his bombastic live show and indulging his dramatic side by starring as King Herod in the Lyric Opera of Chicago's acclaimed staging of Jesus Christ Superstar

On Internet Arms, Fleming embraces an even bolder glam pop sound and questions modern society's tangled relationship with technology. "It became obvious as I was writing the album, just how entangled my social/emotional self is with technology, making me more exposed and simultaneously less connected," he says. "Why are we so drawn to this existence? With Internet Arms, I had a chance to explore these questions and it became very clear to me that I have a intricate and somewhat disconnected relationship with how I perceive myself and how I project myself.  After wrestling with these questions on my own, the album has become my way to broaden the dialogue, and check in with everyone to ask, 'How are you doing in our new worlds? Are you successfully navigating both your real and your digital existence? Is this working? Is this our destiny, or is there an alternative?'"

Diane Coffee shared the album's first single today, the sweeping opening track "Not Ready To Go," via a video directed by Joe Baughman.

"There's no better way to explain 'Not Ready To Go' than a quote from world renowned negotiation expert Daniel L. Shapiro: 'This is our drive to cling to an identity with which we are familiar, even if it is dysfunctional and personally damaging,'" says Fleming. "We have all had a version of this struggle, so I wanted to open a forum, a safe place for the discussion of guilt, shame, and for not knowing how to leave a toxic situation. I find it's like I am observing myself within the relationship but can't quite move my physical self out of the 'repetition compulsion' because the emotional ties are too strong. Fear of the unknown, isolation, dependency, and a feeling of deserving all keep us from breaking free of what is poisoning us. It's so easy for the observer to think, 'It's their choice,' but all our traumas and all the reinforcements make it very difficult to see how you found yourself in these loops and how to stop them. I hope the conversation can be constructive as well, shifting to how to find the strength to step out of a bad cycle and how to recover from the trauma."

Internet Arms is out April 19 on Polyvinyl and is available for pre-order in physical and digital format.

The Coathangers share new single/video "Step Back"

Following up on their recent hard-hitting single "F The NRA," The Coathangers continue to assert themselves as one of the most vital and truth-seeking punk bands around with their new track "Step Back."

Taken from the forthcoming album The Devil You Know out March 8 on Suicide Squeeze, the band explains that "Step Back" is a "reflection of the pain and helplessness that comes with loving someone who is lost in the fog of addiction. We have all been touched by the effects of drug and alcohol issues, which often leave us feeling bewildered. Lurking in the shadows all around us, addiction is the monster that has taken too many people we love away from us. This song is a plea to get them back."
