WATCH "IT RUNS THROUGH ME" HERE:
"Misch's vibe on his debut LP (after a notable Soundcloud run) is sunnier, less cratedigger and more muso.
Bright passages of trumpet, violin and George Benson-ish guitar punctuate relaxed grooves, with an
occasional outbreak of soulful house and disco-funk." - ROLLING STONE
"Misch is ready to assume leading-man status, and we'll be all the better for it....the musical chameleon can
play, produce, mix and self-edit his art without sacrificing its spark." - NPR
"The Misch DNA is clearly abundant in both groove and feels." - THE FADER
Tom Misch has shared the video for his hit song "It Runs Through Me" feat. De La Soul. The video, directed by Joshua Osborne, features some of Tom's favourite musicians including Pos from De Las Soul, Yussef Dayes on drums, and a cameo from Reuben James who played the keys on the original version of the song. NPR has praised "It Runs Through Me" as "brilliant and imaginative," and stated, "this track clearly showcases is his ability to seamlessly blend music cultures and genres." In Tom's own words: "I've recently
been listening to a lot of funk and soul from the 70s and 80s... but I also love the aesthetics of this era and
wanted to incorporate it into this video."
It's been a breakthrough year for the young South London artist/producer. His debut album, Geography,
nestled itself neatly into the UK top 10 on release this Spring, and following a series of sold-out global tours (including two nights at London'sRoundhouse), he hits the road again across the UK in November, taking
into two huge nights at London's O2 Academy Brixton which are now sold out.
Written and produced by Tom at his bedroom studio, Geography marries his love for jazz, funk, disco and
soul music with a dizzying array of collaborators from De La Soul to Loyle Carner. Geography might flit across a variety of different categories, but ultimately it belongs in a genre all of its own.
The album is also quite the family affair. Tom's mom provided the artwork for many of Tom's releases to date including the album itself, his sister Polly Misch, an actress, provides spoken word vocals on album highlight "Movie", and his other sister, Laura Misch, supported Tom on his recent European/UK tour. His broader band should also receive their dues, a veritable melting pot of exquisite musicians: Rob Araujo (Keys), Paul Castelluzzo (Guitar), Reuben James (Keys), Tobie Tripp (Strings), Jamie Houghton (Drums), Carmody
(BVs), Jaz Karis (BVs), Johnny Woodham (Trumpet), Polly Misch (Spoken Word), Abbey Smith (BVs).
Geography is dynamic, sonically diverse, and agreeably adventurous. An album of the year. Tom Misch is its master architect, and a real, extraordinary young British talent.
