Annie Hardy began her illustrious career as lead singer, songwriter and guitarist of Giant Drag over a decade ago and she has returned to the public eye with her critically acclaimed debut solo debut, Rules. The art-punk masterpiece debuted with with NPR First Listen and is available on Bandcampor anywhere online where fine music is sold + all streaming platforms. In celebrating the 1-year anniversary of its release, Annie has released brand new videos for album tracks “Shadow Mode” and “Batman”.

Self-directed and filmed by Joe Cardamone and Asia Whitney, “Shadow Mode” encapsulates the spiritual way Annie views the world. On her vision for the video she shares, “I experience this dual reality where 3D and spirit merge and I get stuck in these sort of vortexes represented by the two tunnels we shot.“

Directed and filmed by Annie in Desert Hot Springs with a small cast of ducks, “Batman” is a heart wrenching ode to the day she lost her son to SIDS set in a soothing, almost heavenly, environment.

Rules features contributions from Don Bolles (The Germs)Stephen McBean (Pink Mountaintops, Black Mountain)Petra Haden (That Dog),DJ Bonebrake (X) and Joe Cardamone (The Icarus Line). Crafted during a period of time during which she lost both her baby to SIDS at 17 days old as well as the baby’s father, her boyfriend Robert Paulson, the record is simultaneously beautiful and tragic. Produced by Joe Cardamone of LA post-hardcore band The Icarus Line, on Rules Annie trades in the grunge-pop grooves of Giant Drag for experimental art-punk, exposing her fragility in a way she never has before.
