Fleet Foxes - Crack-Up On Tour
On June 16, 2017, Fleet Foxes celebrated the release of their highly anticipated, third studio album, Crack-Up, on Nonesuch Records. The band returned from a six-year hiatus with their most complex piece to date, performed "Third of May" and "Fool's Errand" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert as well as a full session on CBS This Morning, and sold out legendary venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Hollywood Bowl.

Fleet Foxes international tour continues. Today, the band released a look behind (and on) stage during the recent US tour with special guests The Westerlies. Watch the full video, by Sean Pecknold.

The Critics on Crack-Up:

Crack-Up is a defiant artistic statement, an album that dares to feel important.
New York Times

“The band’s third album is their most complex and compelling to date. Robin Pecknold’s songwriting retreats inward while around him dense folk compositions rise and fall on a massive scale.” - Pitchfork (Best New Music)

“Rewarding, involving and meticulous, Crack-Up has been well worth the wait.” - AP

“A rich, ideas-driven record which pulls off a pretty unlikely feat: infusing Fleet Foxes’ music with the same sense of transcendence and beauty that they managed the first time, now delivered with an added sense of expansive musical ambition. Confirms that rarest of achievements: a group somehow hanging on to the essence of who they are, while pushing their art into thrillingly unforeseen places.’ - Q Magazine

“Astonishing. Crack-Up may be the most anticipated release of the year, a welcome return. Ambitious, mature, meticulous.” – Uncut

“Adventurous, excellent” - Rolling Stone

“Likely to be the most remarkable album you will hear this year… the return of one of the most original bands of this century.” – Times (London)

Crack-Up is enveloping enough to get lost in… For every contained and elegantly pretty ballad like "Kept Woman," there's a byzantine engine of ambition like the title track, which closes Crack-Up with a burst of energy worthy of its title.” - NPR

“The Seattle-formed indie-folk pick up where they left off with pensive balladry and life affirming anthems loaded with harmonies that'd make Crosby, Stills & Nash jealous.”
Entertainment Weekly

"those stunning harmonies—it remains the band that created a new direction for indie music in the late 2000s." - Esquire

“No matter how much he experiments, Pecknold can’t completely run away from his obvious strengths. The album’s most stirring moments are those trademark vocal blasts …” - Relix

"The band has always prided itself on ornateness, and in that sense, Crack-Up is its richest release to date. " - AV Club

"The arrangements on Crack-Up are among the most ambitious of Fleet Foxes’ career. They clearly weren’t content to repeat any previous ideas. If Fleet Foxes were going to come back, they were going to take a giant step forward." - Brooklyn Vegan

"At once sumptuous and ambitious, a serpentine journey from the center of harmony-drenched folk-pop out to the edge of Pecknold’s brain and back. It is lovely, strange and generous, and ultimately a very welcome return for the Seattle band." - Paste

" Fleet Foxes’ latest album will likely be added to best-of lists for years to come and championed as their knotty, complex magnum opus." Pop Matters

The Critics on Fleet Foxes Live:

“Triumphant Return… Despite the large venue, Pecknold’s vocals were able to reach those in the far back, highlighted by the band’s impressive musicianship… It all coalesced to create a rich, ethereal setting.” - Billboard

“...it’s the culmination of a two-hour high-wire act full of intricate, often breathtaking music. Judging by the flushed, smiling faces of the faithful as they file questly out, one that’s been worth the six-year wait.” - Q Magazine

"The show felt like it had disregarded the laws of physics, with each perfect transition between songs threading time together, making you feel like there was no such thing as an end." - Seattle Weekly

"They brought with them everything fans love about Fleet Foxes: layered harmonies shepherded by Robin Pecknold's still-incredible voice, pastoral lyrics, and an almost religious-seeming intensity that made the Crystal feel like a cathedral."
Portland Mercury

"Bigger and better after hiatus." - Washington Post

"Tuesday night's show showcased the immense talent of everyone involved in the group for a truly engaging live experience." - New York Daily News

"the six-year wait seemed almost worth it for the chance to spend a short while in the company of Pecknold once again." - Consequence of Sound

“On Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl, Robin Pecknold was as powerful as any performer who’s ever played the Bowl’s stage. He was a flash of folk and light and feeling. He was gentleness masked in fury, or maybe the other way around. Whichever it is, he sure as hell won’t say.” - Uproxx

"Pecknold’s ultra-pure voice and timeless, picturesque lyrics soared through the hall all night, raising goosebumps at the peak moments in beloved “oldies” like “Ragged Wood,” “He Doesn’t Know Why,” “Helplessness Blues” and especially “Mykonos.”
- Las Vegas Weekly

"Words? I have none. Rather, I had none after bearing witness in person to the insanely spectacular live performance by Fleet Foxes, and taking some time to reflect I’m still just as amazed as I was when the folk-rock outfit made their final bows at The Mann Center."
