Today, October 31st, 2017, French surf-noir band -- LA FEMME -- releases the zany new music video for "EXORCISEUR", (translates to "Exorcist"), from their 2016 full-length, Mystere. Fresh off of their most recent Fall Tour, the band gives us a glimpse inside their days on the road. Complete with costumes, razor blades, and trippy filters, the video is the perfect match for the funky bassline and haunting synths. Definitely a perfect addition to your Haloween Playlist.

The video subtly addresses the song's darker messages:

"I must drive out the devil,
That is in me.
Where is the razor … ?"

Direct from the Parisian overground, French pop connoisseurs La Femme released their new albumMystère worldwide last September. Hailing from Le Pré Saint Gervais and Ivry-sur-Seine’s winding streets, La Femme has made a huge mark on modern Paris's cultural landscape, with the two sides of the city – the glamour and the grit – engrained in their music. Mystère reached the second place in the French digital charts, 8^th place in the overall French charts, and was nominated for Best Rock Album at the French Music Awards 2017. Ever since the release of their debut album Psycho Tropical Berlin,that topped the French digital charts and saw the band appear on national television as the Best New Band of the year at the French Music Awards, their rise has only gained momentum with fans.

BLUE LIPS is the intended companion to Tove Lo’s Top 10 second album Lady Wood. The completeLady Wood Story is told across each album’s 2 chapter’s – Fairy Dust and Fire Fade off of Lady Wood, and Light Beams  and Pitch Black off of BLUE LIPS. The provocative, critically acclaimed album included “cool girl,” the worldwide platinum single whose video has netted over 48 million YouTube views to date.  “cool girl,” was one of five songs from Lady Wood that were featured in Fairy Dust, the raw and bold 31-minute film that accompanied the album release, in which Tove Lo made her acting debut alongside “alter ego” co-star Lina Esco (Kingdom, Flaked).

"A refreshing step forward for Tera Melos." -- NPR

Tera Melos premiere the official video for "Warpless Run" from their recently released third album Trash Generator today via NPR. The clip features world record holding Super Mario Bros "speedrunning" player Darbian (more about that in a moment). The song itself is an album standout featuring guest vocals on the coda by Rob Crow of Pinback. Watch & share the video HERE. (Direct YouTube.)

About the video and "speedrunning", vocalist/guitarist Nick Reinhart explains:

"Speedrunning is when a human beats a video game as fast as possible. It's a FASCINATING practice that involves tons of bizarre in-game science to make these runs as fast as humanly possible. Darbian is basically the Michael Jordan of Super Mario Bros (SMB1). His speedruns are legendary. Darbian is the current Super Mario Bros Any% world record holder, and has been many times in the past ("Any%" is a record category that allows the use of every trick in the book in order to complete the game).

"For a stretch of time, Darbian was working on the SMB1 'warpless run' world record. This is where you complete the game without using any of the warps (located in world 1-4 and 4-2). During one of these runs Darbian mentioned how there are things you don't get to see throughout the Any% runs. One thing in particular is world 3 and world 6. Those two worlds are set at nighttime and they have a very different look from the rest of the worlds. He talked about how they're the coolest looking levels that we never see because we're all too busy trying to beat the game as fast as possible. That really resonated with me, so we wrote a song about it! (and we got Rob Crow to be a part of it!)

"We had this wacky idea to try and recreate one of Darbian's speedruns with a made-up Tera Melos-style video game. I gave our longtime visual collaborator, Behn Fannin, a call. Then I wondered, 'it would be pretty cool if we could actually get Darbian in the video..." I figured there's no harm in asking, so i sent him a message and he was into it!! Next thing you know, Behn sends us this video game he had made from scratch plus a duplication of Darbian's live Twitch stream layout. It blew our minds. And finally, we got to have the legendary Darbian speedrun our own video game, in which the soundtrack is one of the weirdest songs we've ever written."

Trash Generator, the trio's third full length, is an astonishing blast of confidence and rejuvenation. It sounds as if the 4-year downtime since their last album has recharged the band with an entirely new sense of purpose. The performances are brilliant and sharp, the songs concise yet intricately detailed, and the album production deftly captures the band's strength as a live unit. Their dalliances with mellower psychedelic phrases on their previous two albums, X'ed Out (2013) and Patagonian Rats(2010) are significantly trimmed and instead utilized as colorations within a swirling maelstrom of righteous aggro punk-jazz abandon. As such, it sounds like Tera Melos has fully metabolized their pop tendencies and found a way they can coexist with the band's iconoclast origins. Tera Melos -- guitarist/vocalist Nick Reinhart, bassist Nathan Latona and drummer John Clardy -- have learned to stop worrying and just be Tera Melos.

In the downtime since their last full length, Reinhart remained active in multiple endeavors: contributing guitar to Death Grips' The Powers That B and Bottomless Pit albums + the I.L.Y.'s (Zach Hill and Andy Morin's other band), Big Walnuts Yonder (with Mike Watt, Nels Cline andGreg Saunier), Portugal.the man and many others. Latona completed a college degree he'd put off for 11 years. Clardy became and integral faculty member at the School of Rock in Dallas/Ft. Worth, inspiring young musicians with his real-world approach to learning music.

"Wth this record it was 100% let's not concern ourselves with what we should be doing at this point in the band's lifespan, and just fully focus on what makes us happy," Reinhart says.

Industrial metal pioneers Godflesh will release their new album Post Self on November 17 via frontman Justin K. Broadrick's Avalanche Recordings. Over two years in the making, Post Self explores the less metal side of Godflesh, taking in their formative influences to conjure something more informed by late 70's/early 80's post-punk and industrial. The album deals with themes of anxiety, depression, fear, mortality, and paternal/maternal relationships.

Godflesh's last album, A World Lit Only By Fire, was released in October 2014.

Tuesday, October 31 -- Today Langhorne Slim shares a music video for his single "Zombie." The video was directed by Joshua Shoemaker and shot in Nashville, TN. It's an absurdist take on a typical relationship music video where Slim dates a zombie and finds himself stumbling through horror tropes. Inspired by classic horror films such as Scream, Psycho and The Shining, the video premiered via Nerdist who note, "this folk ode to dating a Zombie is the perfect Halloween song."
