Zola Jesus Shares New Album Okovi: Listen
The follow-up to 2014’s Taiga has arrived

Zola Jesus’ fifth studio album, Okovi, has arrived. Listen below. The follow-up to 2014’s Taiga features contributions from longtime collaborator Alex DeGroot, WIFE, Pedestrian Deposit’s Shannon Kennedy, and percussionist Ted Byrnes. In a statement, Zola Jesus explained: “Okovi is a Slavic word for shackles.” She continues, “This album is a deeply personal snapshot of loss, reconciliation, and a sympathy for the chains that keep us all grounded to the unforgiving laws of nature.” The LP includes previously released tracks “Exhumed,“ “Siphon,”, and “Soak.” Zola Jesus has also released a new reissue album—the Stridulum LP, which compiles her 2010 EPs Stridulum and Valusia.
