Foxygen Doubles Down On OpulenceWATCH THE MONUMENTAL “AVALON” VIDEO
Casablanca. Citizen Kane. Shawshank. Some of the greatest visual masterpieces of our
time. And now, Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado has directed “Avalon,” a piece of moving
art that will surely stand as a landmark achievement in musical motion picture filmmaking.
Using some corporate funding from WeTransfer to pad an already excessive shooting
budget, Rado’s packed in enough Hollywood glitz, glamour and grandeur to choke a show
pony. As usual, frontman Sam France turns in a powerhouse performance. He’s got an
ageless shimmy and sashay. There’s even a wonderful little making-of documentary.
Foxygen will continue to tour the stage production of Hang across the globe through the remainder of 2017. You’ve still got a handful of opportunities to chance your life.
